Course Code and Title: FLMA70H3 How to Read a Film
Course Description: An introduction to the critical study of cinema, including films from a broad range of genres, countries, and eras, as well as readings representing the major critical approaches to cinema that have developed over the past century.
Course Enrollment (est.): 30 students per tutorial section.
Number of Positions (est.): 1
Qualifications: Graduate degree in English, Cinema Studies, or related field. Teaching assistant experience at the University of Toronto is an asset.
Duties: Conducting tutorials, grading assignments and exams, invigilating tests and exams, additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the instructor.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 28 - December 31, 2026.
Note: all positions involve completion of any course grading not finished by December 31 , 2026 for Fall courses.
In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 collective agreement, the rate of pay applicable for Sessional Instructional Assistants is $55.25 per hour plus 4% vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
