About this role
Founded in 2012, LADbible Group is redefining entertainment and news for a social generation. Our global community engages with our content–spanning editorial, video, documentary and live – we reach 1 billion people each and every month. Our mission is to give the youth generation a voice by building communities that laugh, think and act. Using all major platforms, we’ve rapidly risen to become one of the world's largest publishers.
About LADwallet
LADwallet is LADbible’s money and consumer proposition: the money manual nobody gave you. We help our audience navigate the things that genuinely affect their lives — from bills, banking and borrowing to scams, renting, refunds, tax, pay and the cost of everyday life — explained clearly, usefully and without jargon.
This is not traditional personal-finance coverage. LADwallet takes complex, often frustrating consumer issues and tells readers what they mean for them, what they could gain or lose, and what they should do next.
About the role
We’re looking for a sharp, fast and audience-obsessed Consumer Reporter to make LADwallet a recognisable, trusted and genuinely useful destination for money and consumer journalism.
You will lead on a consistent pipeline of timely, practical and engaging stories, covering breaking consumer news, original reporting, explainers, service journalism and follow-ups. You’ll be expected to develop strong contacts across consumer organisations, regulators, brands and expert communities; spot stories before competitors; and turn complicated information into simple, compelling copy in LADbible’s voice.
While consumer and money journalism will be your specialism, you’ll also support the wider LADbible newsroom with general news coverage when needed.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead LADwallet’s daily consumer-news agenda, identifying the stories that matter most to our audience.
- Cover breaking developments across banking, borrowing, savings, bills, energy, broadband, subscriptions, shopping, housing, renting, mortgages, tax, benefits, pay, student money, motoring, travel compensation, scams and consumer rights.
- Produce high-quality reactive stories, explainers, guides, comparisons, checklists, refunds/rights pieces and “what this means for your wallet” coverage.
- Generate original reporting through Freedom of Information requests, reader case studies, expert commentary, data, public records and strong source relationships.
- Build and maintain a proactive contacts book across consumer bodies, regulators, charities, campaign groups, brands and qualified experts.
- Monitor news, policy changes, official announcements, online communities and social conversation to find fresh, useful and distinctive angles.
- Translate complex consumer issues into clear, accessible journalism: who is affected, how much is at stake, when it changes and what readers should do now.
- Pitch original ideas and follow-up angles, prioritising meaningful audience value over commodity rewrites.
- Write accurate, engaging copy at pace, ensuring every story meets LADbible’s editorial, legal and accuracy standards.
- Work closely with LADbible’s Editorial, SEO, Audience, Social, Video, Commercial and Affiliate teams to package stories effectively across platforms.
- Use performance data — including sessions, engagement and search/discovery trends — to improve commissioning, headlines, formats and follow-up coverage.
- Contribute to LADwallet’s repeatable editorial formats and help test new ways to build loyalty, trust and repeat readership.
- Support general LADbible news coverage as required, including on weekends and during major breaking-news moments.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a digital journalist or reporter, ideally with experience in consumer, money, business, personal finance, news or service journalism.
- A strong news instinct and the ability to identify the practical human consequence behind a policy, product, price change or consumer issue.
- Demonstrable experience of sourcing, pitching and writing fast-turnaround digital stories.
- Confidence working with primary sources, official data, regulatory announcements, reports and expert commentary.
- A track record of finding original angles, building contacts and developing exclusive or distinctive stories.
- Excellent writing, headline-writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to make complicated subjects feel straightforward and relevant.
- Strong understanding of SEO, search trends and digital-news performance, alongside a willingness to learn from data.
- Sound editorial judgement, rigorous attention to accuracy and an understanding of legal and compliance considerations in consumer and financial content.
- An understanding of LADbible’s tone, audience and social-first approach to storytelling.
- A collaborative, curious and proactive approach, with comfort working at pace in a busy newsroom.
- Interest in new formats, platforms, AI tools and changing audience habits.
The bar we set
We hire people who are exceptional at their craft, hungry to grow and raise the standard of everyone around them. For this role, that means:
- Ownership: You take responsibility for finding and delivering stories that genuinely help our audience.
- Pace: You move quickly, make sound editorial decisions and learn from what performs.
- Audience obsession: You instinctively ask: why does this matter to our readers, and what do they need to know or do?
- Collaboration: You work openly across the newsroom and make the wider team better.
- Curiosity: You stay ahead of the news, consumer trends, platforms and tools shaping how people find and use information.
