About this role

Summary:

This is a full-time position providing operational mission support.  This position is supporting Amentum on a contract for the US Department of Defense and based in Japan, primarily at a customer location aboard MCAS Iwakuni in support of a Base Operations & Support contract.

Working Environment: Non-Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) assignment (SOFA dependents maintain their status).  Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Work Schedule: This position works at least eight hours per day, five days per week minimum.  Traditional in-person attendance expectations (non-hybrid).  Position requires the responsibility to be available and responsive to emergent items, via Company provided phone, after hours and support to the on-call staff 24/7 while not on a PTO (Paid Time Off) status.

Position Responsibilities:

- Growing in depth knowledge of the specific Annex/PWS areas that pertain to the assigned staff and their duties, monitoring for performance improvements.
- Engagements in meeting and discussion environments of all types to include email, in-person, phone or Teams / conference calls with USG staff, USG Contractors and Corporate / Site Management including engagement and meetings with Company Subcontractors.
- Review applicable sections of ROMs, SOWs, RFPs, AHAs, and similar documents; prepare inspection templates and checklists based on contract and project requirements.
- Periodically inspect corrective actions and preventive measures to verify completion and compliance with contractual and project specifications; submit associated reports in required computer system.
- Responsible for assisting personnel that perform repairs to facilities on emergency, urgent, corrective and preventive maintenance in the applicant’s current expertise area, while growing knowledge in all areas of Trades related to the BOSC mission.  Assistance will be occasionally necessary outside of normal working hours, on weekends, or holidays.
- Assist the O&M Manager in areas such as Work Control, Planning, Scheduling and general reports.
- Ensure optimal use of resources in achieving Company and Program goals
- During emergencies and natural disasters, oversees the flow of information and reports, coordinate actions when necessary, and ensure response plans are followed.
- Perform related duties which also include general administrative tasks such as meeting minutes, preparation and presentation of data and navigation from system of record data sources and review of Deliverables associated with the assigned Annex areas and related functions.
- All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Experience and Qualification Levels:

- Two (2) years’ experience in facility operations and maintenance services with focuses and experience specific to the following (combined or uniquely); Electrical, HVAC, Fire Protection Systems, Plumbing, Water Treatment, Fuel Powered Generators, Construction Safety or Work Control and assignments of those listed skill sets
- Prefer experience working in maintenance management system, either Maximo or SAP based

Expected Skills and Competencies:

- Proficiencies in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint (note: experience will be expected to be demonstrated or explained during the interview process)
- Continual growth of knowledge in the various Trades related areas as applicable to the BOSC
- Must be comfortable typing, presenting, briefing and performing in a meeting environment
- Possesses and demonstrates a positive focus on achieving outstanding customer satisfaction
- Work well as part of a team and independently, handling issues with tact and diplomacy, exercising sound judgment to make independent decisions and flexibility with evolving requirements.
- Ability to guide a team through coaching and performance management to ensure goals are met.

Education:

- High school diploma or GED required at a minimum.

Language Requirements:

- Primary communication is in English; must have oral and written English communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, management, and the client.
- Will be expected to perform in an environment where English and Japanese are spoken which may require interpretation or translation using smart-phone type app or bi-lingual assistance.

Other Requirements:

- SOFA Dependents are required to obtain the approved “REQUEST TO ENGAGE IN COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES OR PRIVATE EMPLOYMENT IN JAPAN” as per IIIMEF/MCIPAC MCBBO 5300.3 via Staff Judge Advocate at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan for DBIDS processing as a Contractor
- Candidate must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 12 months remaining to expiration date, if not currently a resident of Japan.
- Applicants in-country must hold their own visa sponsorship or residency if not an internal applicant.
- With Company assistance, applicant will be required to apply and be accepted for a DBIDS enrollment and identification issuance prior to employment for first workday, which will be categorized as “Foreign Gov Contr”; SOFA dependents will be required to hold Contractor Identification IAW Installation Access Control MCASO prior to employment for first workday.  Contractor identification is a requirement of employment and continuance of employment.
- Position requires the applicant to drive in the performance of work duties.  Applicant must be able to obtain (if on IDP) and maintain a Japanese Driver License, within 90 days of hire, or SOFA license and be able to operate a Company provided motor vehicle on MCAS Iwakuni.  Applicant must be able and willing to operate motor vehicle on Japanese roads as job duties require.
- Transportation is not provided to locally hired personnel for the purpose of commuting to and from the workplace.  Non-locally hired are expected to obtain and maintain the legal ability to operate a Company provided vehicle both on and off the installation for the purpose of commute and/or on-site transportation.  Those unable to obtain and maintain the legal means to operate a motor vehicle in Japan or aboard the installation will be responsible for their own transportation for all purposes.
- All vehicle assignments, if applicable, are based on vehicle availability, position, work assignment and where the primary operator may live. Ride sharing on and off base to residences is applicable within the local area as may be necessary.
