The Opportunity
As a Senior Recovery Specialist, you're the steady hand behind some of the Bank's most complex and sensitive recovery matters. You understand that every file has a story, and every decision requires a thoughtful balance of risk management, customer care, and sound business judgment.
You don't just manage recovery files, you navigate complexity, uncover solutions, and protect the Bank's interests while helping customers through difficult circumstances. Whether you're administering insurance claims following a property loss, assessing mortgage renewal risk, or managing foreclosure and power of sale proceedings, you bring expertise, professionalism, and confidence to every interaction.
Working closely with borrowers, legal counsel, mortgage insurers, adjusters, realtors, builders, and internal partners, you'll play a critical role in mitigating losses, protecting security interests, and delivering effective resolution strategies from start to finish.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Administer insurance claims where the Bank's security has been affected by partial or total property loss, ensuring appropriate use and distribution of insurance proceeds.
- Partner with customers, insurance adjusters, builders, solicitors, and other stakeholders to support property repairs, rebuilds, and claim resolution activities.
- Review maturing mortgage accounts to assess risk, determine renewal eligibility, and recommend appropriate renewal terms where required.
- Provide expert analysis and recommendations regarding non-renewal situations while ensuring customers receive clear and timely communications.
- Support the ongoing evolution of recovery policies, procedures, and guidelines to reflect regulatory changes, process improvements, and operational requirements.
- Manage a portfolio of legal recovery files involving foreclosure and power of sale proceedings from initiation through final resolution.
- Coordinate legal action with external counsel, negotiate payment arrangements, resolve title issues, and facilitate property sales or transfers to mortgage insurers.
- Identify opportunities to mitigate losses by managing legal costs, protecting collateral, and supporting effective recovery strategies.
- Complete loss provisioning assessments and provide insight into anticipated recovery outcomes, risks, and potential losses.
What You Bring to the Table
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Legal Administration, Real Estate, Accounting, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in foreclosure, power of sale, collections, recoveries, or related mortgage servicing functions.
- Experience working with mortgage insurers, law firms, insurance adjusters, builders, realtors, appraisers, and other recovery-related stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of mortgage documentation, title matters, security registration, insurance proceeds administration, and recovery-related legal processes.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
