Director of Coaches - Leadership Team Member

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves developing people, building relationships, solving problems, and helping a team succeed.

Soccer Shots San Diego is looking for a Director of Coaching who wants to take ownership of an incredible team of coaches.
Yes, you’ll help us recruit, hire, train and schedule great coaches. But this position is about much more than filling shifts.
We are looking for a leader.
Someone who gets to know their coaches. Someone coaches trust and want to work for. Someone who develops people, recognizes problems early, steps in when the team needs help, and takes pride in making sure our coaching team delivers an exceptional experience to every child, family and partner we serve.

THE JOB
As our Director of Coaching, you will help lead the people responsible for delivering the Soccer Shots experience every day.
You will:
• Lead, support and develop our team of Soccer Shots coaches
• Build genuine relationships with coaches and create a strong, connected team culture
• Recruit, interview, hire and onboard excellent new coaches
• Train, observe, evaluate and continually develop coaches
• Help coaches grow into trainers, mentors and future leaders
• Run coach meetings, trainings and special events
• Help create and manage coach schedules based on program and team needs
• Proactively solve scheduling challenges, call-outs and coverage issues
• Step in and help when unexpected coaching challenges arise
• Maintain strong communication with coaches so issues are identified before they become emergencies
• Help hold coaches accountable to Soccer Shots standards and expectations
• Serve as a Brand Ambassador with our schools, parks and community partners
• Help protect and strengthen partner relationships when challenges arise
• Work collaboratively with our leadership and administrative team to accomplish company goals
• Identify problems, bring solutions and help improve the systems that support our coaching team
• Support the team outside your normal lane when necessary to help the organization succeed
• Represent Soccer Shots positively and professionally in the community

LEADERSHIP + MANAGEMENT
We don't expect everything to go perfectly.
Coaches will call out. Schedules will change. Parents and partners will need help. Problems will occasionally fall between the cracks.
We need someone whose instinct is:
“I've got it. Let's figure this out.”
You won't have to personally do everything—but you will help make sure the right things get done.

You do not need to know everything on day one.
We can teach systems and processes.

SCHEDULE
20-30 Non-Coaching Leadership/Administrative hours per week, plus coaching and field responsibilities.
-  $22–$30 per hour
10-15 Coaching Hours per week
-  Starting at $25 per hour
Typical Schedule: (Flexible to fit what works)
• Saturday: approximately 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
• Sunday: approximately 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
• Monday: approximately  8:00 AM–12:00 PM 
• Tuesday: approximately  8:00 AM–12:00 PM 
• Wednesday: approximately  8:00 AM–12:00 PM 
• Thursday: approximately  8:00 AM–12:00 PM 
• Friday: approximately  8:00 AM–12:00 PM 
• Flexible weekday hours based on hiring, training, scheduling and program needs

Because this position leads our coaching team, some flexibility is necessary when unexpected situations arise.
WHAT YOU GET
• Training: $20 per hour
• Head Coaching starting at $25 per hour
• $200 signing bonus if approved 12 Early Childhood Education units are already completed

WHAT YOU NEED
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• A genuine desire to develop and support people
• Soccer Shots coaches must love children and be ready to have fun!
• Reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License—we travel throughout San Diego County
• Ability to pass required background checks
• Required immunizations/documentation, including TB test, MMR and Tdap
• Employment is contingent upon cleared FBI & DOJ Live Scan background checks

BONUS: 12 approved Early Childhood Education units already completed.
