CONSTRUCTION SAFETY MANAGER / COORDINATOR

OSHA 30-Hour Construction training is mandatory for this role.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join our growing team, where the successful candidate will work with a group of engineers involved in the design, commissioning & qualification, start-up and project management of various processes, systems, and facilities. The work will require working out of the client’s facilities in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This role is for a Construction Safety Manager / Coordinator who will lead site safety activities on an industrial capital project at a wastewater treatment facility. Reporting to and supporting the Construction Manager (CM), the successful candidate will carry out site inspections and daily walkdowns, audit contractors, support permitting and safety documentation, and ensure that every work activity is assessed for safety before it begins. Candidates with and without wastewater treatment plant experience are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

- Act as the site safety manager / coordinator for construction activities.

- Perform site safety inspections and daily walkdowns of work areas.

- Complete safety assessments prior to the start of any work.

- Support the Construction Manager (CM) during permitting activities and related paperwork.

- Provide support for Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and STA paperwork, and review contractor submissions for completeness.

- Audit contractors for compliance with site safety requirements, OSHA regulations and project safety plans.

- Deliver contractor safety orientations for new personnel arriving on site.

- Prepare and distribute safety reports, and track corrective actions through to closure.

- Promote a strong safety culture across all contractors and project personnel.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of construction site safety experience; senior candidates with 8–10+ years are also welcome.

- Completion of the OSHA 30-Hour Construction course is required.

- Experience on industrial construction projects; wastewater treatment plant experience is an asset but not required.

- Hands-on experience with site inspections, contractor audits, permitting and JHA documentation.

- Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards.

- Strong communication skills and confidence delivering safety orientations and addressing unsafe conditions with contractors.

- Additional safety certifications (e.g., CHST, CSP, First Aid/CPR) are an asset.
