We are seeking a Service Coordinator for a 12-month term to join our National Indigenous Solutions Practice in Winnipeg, MB.
The Service Coordinator is responsible for delivering exceptional service and administrative support to plan members, plan administrators, clients, and internal stakeholders. Acting as a primary point of contact, they will provide guidance and support related to group benefits and retirement plans while ensuring the timely and accurate processing of administrative requests.
Working closely with Account Managers, plan administrators, insurance carriers, and service providers, the incumbent will help coordinate plan administration activities, resolve member inquiries, support claims processes, and facilitate effective communication between stakeholders. The role also contributes to the successful delivery of client services through training coordination, implementation support, employee meetings, and ongoing operational initiatives.

The Service Coordinator will:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for plan members and plan administrators regarding Group Benefits and Group Retirement Services inquiries.
- Assist plan members and plan administrators with health, dental, life, disability, critical illness, and retirement-related inquiries.
- Support members through claims processes by assisting with forms, documentation requirements, and communications with carriers and service providers.
- Guide members through prior authorization and special authorization prescription processes.
- Assist members with accessing employee and family assistance programs (EFAP) and other available resources.
- Redirect financial planning, investment, or specialized inquiries to the appropriate Account Manager.
- Support communication initiatives and educational outreach to plan members and client organizations.
- Process employee and employer requests related to group benefits and retirement plans.
- Manage enrolments, terminations, beneficiary updates, salary adjustments, address changes, class transfers, and other administrative requests.
- Conduct thorough quality reviews of administrative transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with annual administration activities including reports, reconciliations, and regulatory filings.
- Verify retirement account balances and investment selections as required.
- Support retirement plan withdrawal requests and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate plan administrator information and online administration access with carriers.
- Act as liaison between plan members, plan administrators, insurance carriers, service providers, health practitioners, and other stakeholders.
- Support onboarding of new clients and implementation of group benefits and retirement plans.
- Coordinate and facilitate plan administrator training sessions in partnership with carriers.
- Support coordination with Non Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) and other applicable organizations when required.
- Assist with Annual Information Returns, BEB and Schedule of Contributions reports
- Assist with group insurance and pension deductions
- Support Account Managers with client service activities and occasional client meetings.
- Plan and deliver plan administrator training (one-on-ones, webinars) for both GB and GRS
- Scan, process, and maintain administrative records and documentation.
- Provide backup support to the service and administration team, including reception, phone coverage, and general office support as required.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and special projects.
- Support additional operational and administrative activities as assigned.
To be successful as a Service Coordinator with People Corporation, you will need:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, customer service, office administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
- 2 years of experience in benefits administration, pension administration, client service, insurance, financial services, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based administration systems.
- Familiarity with group benefits and/or group retirement plans is preferred.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, or clients is considered an asset.
- A collaborative & solutions-based approach to client inquiries and engage members of our team to assist in resolving and answering client questions or concerns
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.

The base salary for this position is between $50,000 - $60,000 annually.
This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc.). The actual base salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
