The Analyst program at Union Square Advisors offers candidates the unparalleled opportunity to gain deep domain expertise in M&A and capital raising in the technology sector. Union Square Advisors is a technology-focused investment bank that advises companies, founders, and financial sponsors on sell-side and buy-side M&A, growth equity and private capital raises, and strategic alternatives across software, internet, digital media, fintech, and tech-enabled services.
Analysts work directly with senior bankers on live transactions from pitch through close, contributing to both quantitative and qualitative workstreams while building a foundation in technology sector coverage. This is a lean-team environment with meaningful client exposure and responsibility well beyond what is typical at larger institutions.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models, including operating models, DCF, LBO, merger/accretion-dilution, and returns analyses
- Prepare client-facing materials such as pitch books, CIMs, management presentations, and board materials
- Conduct in-depth industry and company-specific research, including comparable company and precedent transaction analysis
- Support diligence processes and data room management, and track buyer and investor outreach throughout live deals
- Monitor sector trends, M&A activity, and capital markets developments across assigned coverage areas
Qualifications
- At least 1 full year of investment banking experience; technology sector coverage a plus
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with a strong command of valuation methodologies and accounting fundamentals
- Proficiency with AI tools in a professional workflow and genuine interest in the technologies reshaping the sectors we cover; we expect Analysts to actively use AI to work faster and sharper
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and close attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams under deadline in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
