Job Description

What You'll Do

- Lead and develop a technical team of approximately 30, including the Fuel Component Operation (FCO), Fuel Manufacturing Operation (FMO), and Advanced Team engineering managers — hiring, coaching, and building bench strength across the organization.

- Direct the design, upgrade, and qualification of manufacturing equipment and processes — covering mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems — for fuel fabrication and capital project deployment.

- Champion GNF's nuclear safety culture, ensuring Items Relied On For Safety (IROFS) and other safety controls are understood, tested, and maintained through Function Test Instructions (FTIs) and related processes.

- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot daily production issues and drive continuous, reliable facility operations.

- Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods, delivering measurable gains in safety, quality, and output.

- Build strong partnerships across engineering, operations, and business leadership, and represent GNF with external partners, customers, and regulatory agencies, including the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

- Own performance and program management for engineering deliverables, ensuring on-time results that meet industry and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field.

- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, nuclear engineering, nuclear operations, or a related discipline.

- 3+ years of experience in a technical manufacturing leadership role.

- Ability to walk and climb stairs and ladders, and work in and around manufacturing equipment, including crawling, kneeling, and reaching as needed.

- Willingness to complete Nuclear Safety Training and follow radiation protection, criticality, and industrial safety requirements, including wearing required protective equipment in Controlled Access Areas.

- Ability to work onsite daily in Wilmington, NC (relocation assistance provided), with availability to respond to critical business needs outside standard hours.

Preferred :

- Master's degree in science or engineering, with experience in ceramic or metal processing (welding, pilgering, machining, or sintering) and hands-on knowledge of industrial equipment such as furnaces, hydraulics, and automated welders.

- Experience managing capital equipment projects, from design and specification through testing and installation.

- Familiarity with NRC regulations, Process Safety Management (PSM), Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), or Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA), and Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $144,000.00 and $240,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
