Position Summary:

The CSU Health Network at Colorado State University provides a full range of cost-effective mental health and primary care medical services on campus, referral for community specialty care, and comprehensive health education and prevention services programming. The Public Health Registered Nurse provides clinical nursing services and public health program support within the CSU Health Network. This position works independently within established clinical protocols to deliver immunization services, travel medicine consultations, tuberculosis (TB) screening and case management, communicable disease reporting and response, infection prevention activities and health education.

This position serves as a resource to students, faculty, staff, healthcare providers and campus partners with immunizations, communicable diseases, travel health, infection prevention, and tuberculosis management. The position collaborates with local and state public health agencies and supports public health initiatives that promote the health and safety of the campus community.

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $87,567; Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Essential Job Duties:

Tuberculosis Screening, Evaluation and Case Management :

- Review TB risk assessments and test results; evaluate patients for active disease risk, coordinate follow-up diagnostics and referrals, support treatment adherence, provide patient education and maintain required documentation.

Immunization Program :

- Provide immunization education and compliance guidance; administer vaccines according to established guidelines, maintain immunization records, manage vaccine inventory and cold-chain requirements and support outreach vaccination clinics and campaigns.

Travel Medicine Services:

- Conduct pre-travel health consultations in collaboration with travel medicine providers, assess travel-related health risks, administer travel vaccines, provide travel health education and maintain required travel medicine documentation.

Employee Health Services:

- Review employee immunization and TB screening requirements, administer immunizations and testing as needed, coordinate influenza vaccination compliance efforts and provide education on infection prevention and employee health requirements.

Communicable Disease Prevention and Infection Control:

- Report and assist with the management of communicable diseases and outbreaks, collaborate with public health agencies and campus partners, communicate public health guidance, support infection prevention initiatives, attend outreach vaccination clinics and participate in emergency public health response activities.

Conditions of Employment:

- Pre-employment Criminal Background Check required for all new hires.
- Special Requirements - The CSU Health Network follows CDC guidelines for Employee Health in a healthcare setting, including proof of vaccinations. Employees must show proof of compliance/willingness to comply by start date.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Current Registered Nurse license through the State of Colorado or compact.
- Current certification in American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) OR Bachelor of Science degree plus an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
- Two or more years of nursing experience in direct patient care.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with immunization services, travel medicine consultations, communicable disease reporting and response, and/or infection prevention activities and health education.
- Experience in Tuberculosis (TB) care.
- Experience with urgent care, college health, immunizations or health department nursing.
- Experience working both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with young adult, adolescent and college-age populations.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication and critical thinking skills.
- Experience or  or interest in teaching Basic Life Support and First Aid skills.
- Effective interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills.
