Job Description:

We are seeking a highly effective Manufacturing Engineering Manager with deep experience in aerospace and defense production environments. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success guiding programs through the transition from Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) to Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and Full-Rate Production (FRP).

This role requires a leader who not only drives manufacturing excellence but also invests in developing people. The successful candidate will be a strong coach and mentor—someone who builds capability, fosters accountability, and creates an environment where engineers and technicians can perform at their best. The manager will oversee manufacturing readiness, new product introductions, and continuous improvement efforts while sustaining and optimizing existing production lines.

Essential Functions:

- Lead new product introductions and manage production transitions across EMD, LRIP, and FRP.
- Provide strong leadership to Manufacturing Engineers through coaching, mentoring, performance development, and daily engagement.
- Build a high-performing team culture focused on learning, ownership, and problem-solving.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate product and process designs for manufacturability, safety, and cost efficiency.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive improvement across the value stream.
- Lead process optimization efforts and manufacturing readiness reviews.
- Establish and manage safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets
- Develop and track key manufacturing performance metrics and take corrective actions when needed.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets and resource planning
- Support production operations by ensuring processes and product flow meet quality and performance requirements.
- Act as a primary interface with design engineering to ensure alignment between product specifications and production capabilities.
- Travel: 10% L3Harris Sites, customers, and/or suppliers.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience.
- 5 years leadership experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

- Management and leadership knowledge in job area.
- Experience with APQP or similar structured product introduction frameworks.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or practical application experience.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with personnel ranging from production operators to senior executives.
- Skill in facilitating consensus and aligning teams toward common goals.
- Ability to motivate and engage employees in achieving performance and improvement milestones.
- Experience launching new product lines or manufacturing processes.
