About this role

Baker McKenzie seeks an associate attorney with 3 to 5 years’ experience in US trade law, with a demonstrated focus on US customs and import matters, supply chains and ideally broader export controls, sanctions, and national security-related areas. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on regulatory matters, including advisory work relating to customs classification, valuation, and country of origin and marking, enforcement investigations, compliance program reviews, and cross-border transactional compliance reviews. Candidates should be comfortable managing multiple workstreams, supporting client relationships, and collaborating with cross-practice teams across multiple jurisdictions.

The position is in-person in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Candidates must be proactive, comfortable working independently, have strong academic credentials, excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and writing skills, and a demonstrated ability and willingness to collaborate across teams and cultures and to enhance their skills using AI tools. Major law firm experience is strongly preferred. Must be admitted and a member in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar or be eligible to waive in. Pay Transparency

- Subject to eligibility requirements, the Firm offers a comprehensive benefits package, including bonus opportunities, medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings plans, time off and leave programs, and wellness benefits. Benefits are subject to applicable plan terms and Firm policies.
- The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $260,000 to $365,000 (annually) if located in D.C. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
