Principal Scientist (Lab Head), Mass Spectrometry Based Biomarkers

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist to join our global Mass Spectrometry-based Biomarker team within the Drug Discovery Sciences (DDS) department. You’ll work at the cutting edge of drug discovery - shaping breakthrough therapies and making an immediate impact.

Duties & Responsibilities

• In this role, you will review requests for BM discovery & quantitation, decide on resources & align the purpose and path-forward with our partners in project teams
• Act as a scientific leader and key representative of the MS Biomarker function in cross-functional project teams, contributing to projects in discovery research.
• Lead the design, execution, and analysis of mass spectrometry-based experiments, including small molecules, protein Biomarker quantitation and in vitro proteomics.
• Expertise in operating cutting-edge mass spectrometry platforms (Orbitrap, Bruker timsTOF, Sciex QQQ.) and expert understanding of respective analysis software.
• Hands-on experience with establishing and implementing mass spectrometry based targeted quantitation methods, developing and optimizing innovative analysis workflows.
• Independently drive innovations, lead the development and implementation of global team strategies/initiatives to advance projects.
• Lead, mentor and develop scientists within a high-performing and collaborative research environment.

Requirements

• PhD in biochemistry, pharmacology or related scientific discipline 5 years or more of experience in preclinical drug discovery, including (matrix) leadership responsibilities
• One (1) to three (3) years´ experience leading employees and projects is required.

• Track record as a scientific representative in discovery projects, with the ability to influence project direction in an industry setting

• Strong understanding of biomarkers, translational sciences, biochemical mechanisms, and pharmacological principles relevant to drug discovery
• Deep expertise in mass spectrometry-based applications, with strong experience with small molecule quantitative/targeted workflows. Demonstrated ability to solve complex drug discovery challenges

• Analytical mindset with experience in sample preparation from cells and tissues for LC-MS analyses

• Solid understanding of proteomics approaches for cell pharmacology relevant to drug discovery
• Forward-looking mindset, with a passion for advancing mass spectrometry-based applications for better impact in drug discovery
• Excellent presentation skills, stakeholder management and ability to present concepts outside of expertise area

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
• Must be 18 years of age or older

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $140,800.00 and $211,200.00 USD. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here .
