Role Overview
The Customer Account Manager (CAM) is a strategic, relationship-driven role focused on managing and growing GE Aerospace’s partnership with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (LM Aero). The CAM is accountable for all aspects of the LM Aero airframer relationship, including day-to-day engagement and strategy for future growth opportunities.
This role identifies and develops sales and growth opportunities, shapes future campaigns, translates customer needs into clear strategies, and drives change across GE Aerospace and LM Aero teams. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in Aerospace & Defense markets and strategic account management, who are comfortable navigating complex organizations and engaging with senior leadership.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Own the LM Aero relationship from the C-suite down, facilitating senior GE Aerospace leadership engagement to win business and deepen long term partnership.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the customer’s vision, business model, portfolio, regional market, and competitors, as well as GE Aerospace’s business priorities and growth initiatives.
- Lead strategic account planning with LM Aero and GE Aerospace stakeholders, including clear growth objectives, value propositions, and joint action plans.
- Engage across GE Aerospace P&Ls, Strategy & Business Development, and other functions to align priorities, ensure consistent messaging, and optimize business outcomes.
- Represent the voice of the customer in capture teams, ensuring GE Aerospace offerings are differentiated and aligned to LM Aero’s needs and decision-drivers.
- Lead pre-positioning of key opportunities, influence airframer needs, and drive activities leading up to Intent to Order and formal campaigns.
- Proactively engage in GE Aerospace / LM Aero business issues; be a visible, trusted member of the customer interface teams, helping to solve problems and preserve strong relationships.
- Translate strategic growth priorities into executable plans that expand business with LM Aero and associated customer sets.
- Support executive engagement at tradeshows, conferences, summits, and executive management reviews to advance GE Aerospace’s position with LM Aero and key stakeholders.
- Ethically source and synthesize competitive intelligence to inform strategy in alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and GE Aerospace policies.
- Travel as required by the business (approximately 15% - 25%)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct sales, business development, and/or account management within the Aviation or Defense industry
This role will require in-person attendance for New Hire Orientation on Day 1.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated credibility engaging directly with customers
- Experience presenting strategies and complex information to both peers and senior level leadership
- Strong customer mindset with a proven ability to engage customers, understand their problem statements, and develop strategies to deliver solutions and value
- Solid understanding of the Defense market, including airframer, competitor, and supplier positions in technology and product strategy
- Working knowledge of Department of Defense budgeting and acquisition processes and the ability to relate them to customer decision cycles
- Existing security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one
- Ability to travel as required by the business
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to partner constructively and drive alignment across a matrixed organization
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems, and to lead complex programs or projects through to execution
- Strong business acumen, including comfort with financial considerations, business cases, and customer value propositions
- Experience working directly with senior officials on security, defense, or commercial issues
- Willingness to ideate with product line and P&L teams on go to market strategy, new product developments, and changes in customer and competitor landscape
- Ability to inform strategies with data from sales teams and firsthand customer or competitor engagements
- Demonstrated alignment with GE Aerospace Behaviors (Respect for People, Continuous Improvement, Customer Driven), always with unyielding integrity
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
