Job Description

Implements and supports security solutions and technologies to protect data/assets from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, destruction, modification, or disruption. Provides project leadership, security oversight, and risk management on security projects. Sets security design guidelines, frameworks, and models. Works to identify new security issues and risks and is involved in developing mitigation plans. Helps identify and document security objectives. Participates in projects that develop new intellectual property. Trains/mentors members of the team. Builds relationships and trust across the organization. Evaluates and recommends new and emerging security products and technologies. Works to develop and interpret security policies and procedures. Supports acquisition and vendor risk assessment due diligence. Leads the building, deployment, and maintenance of security tools utilized by the insider threat program. Proactively seeks solutions to mitigate risk and clearly communicate risks to the appropriate stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of data protection technologies , including DLP, Database Activity Monitoring, CASB, Encryption, Tokenization, and Data Classification solutions.
- Serve as the Level 3 Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud-hosted data protection platforms, providing advanced troubleshooting, operational support, and solution optimization.
- Design, deploy, and maintain security controls across AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, AKS, and EKS environments to safeguard sensitive data and workloads.
- Perform operational management activities including capacity planning, access reviews, licensing attestations, backup/recovery validation, failover testing, disaster recovery, and audit compliance .
- Monitor platform health, identify vulnerabilities, implement patches, certificate updates, and configuration changes to reduce security risk and improve resilience.
- Partner with infrastructure, database, network, platform engineering, compliance, risk, and audit teams to successfully deploy and support enterprise security solutions globally.
- Research emerging security technologies, evaluate vendors, conduct proof-of-concepts, and recommend enhancements to strengthen the organization’s data protection posture.
- Mentor and support junior engineers while developing technical documentation, operational procedures, reporting, and configuration management standards.

Basic Skills/Experience
- Typically a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically five or more years of relevant experience
- Advanced technical and functional subject matter expert knowledge across security domain areas

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Strong expertise in Data Protection, Cloud Security, Information Security Engineering, and Security Operations within large enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience supporting SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS security solutions, including data scanning, database monitoring, data protection, and cloud-native security technologies .
- Advanced knowledge of AWS and Azure security services , cloud architecture security, and workload protection strategies.
- Experience securing Kubernetes environments , including container security, admission controls, runtime monitoring, secrets management, and encryption mechanisms.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS 4.0 , SOX, GLBA, and other regulatory/security frameworks governing data protection, change management, and compliance controls.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) security standards using Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation and integrating security guardrails into cloud-native architectures.
- Strong working knowledge of encryption, tokenization, database security, security monitoring, event correlation, vulnerability management, and defense-in-depth architectures .
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to support audits, influence technical teams, and translate security requirements into actionable solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting security technologies in the financial services industry .
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, GIAC, CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, or Azure Security Engineer Associate .
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux/Unix, databases, Big Data security platforms, Agile methodologies, Jira, ITIL, COBIT, and SDLC practices .
- Experience developing security metrics, executive reporting, and operational dashboards.

Location expectations  
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
