Job purpose

The Merchandising Assistant role is for someone who wants to see how product comes to life, from the plan to the launch to what customers see on site. You'll join our cross-brand Merchandising team with a primary focus on Coverstore, sitting alongside the people who run both Leatherology and Coverstore and learning the ins and outs of each. The work spans product launches, pricing and digital merchandising support, with a close-up view of the assortment planning and forecasting behind it. You'll also be the bridge to our Customer Care team, making sure they know our products as well as we do.

Duties and responsibilities

Below is a list of the primary job duties and responsibilities for the Merchandising Assistant. The responsibilities below are meant as a guide for core job functions but are by no means exhaustive.

Customer Care Support and Product Expertise

- Serve as the primary product expert and the first point of contact for the Customer Care team on all product-related questions

- Triage, research, and resolve daily inquiries regarding product information, specifications, fitment, and compatibility; escalate complex issues to Category Managers as needed

- Conduct regular product training sessions with the Customer Care department, including dedicated training for all new product launches

- Build and maintain internal product knowledge resources (FAQs, fitment guides, spec sheets)

- Approve customer reviews weekly; aggregate results and report key findings and opportunities to the team monthly

Item Setup and Product Launches

- Input new SKU data and maintain accurate product information from features, specifications, and dimensions

- Support product launches by compiling all necessary assets to make sure they successfully go live on all channels

- Audit live product pages post-launch to verify accuracy of copy, images, pricing, and specifications across all channels

Pricing and Promotions

- Work with merchants and marketing to implement price changes and markdowns for seasonal promotions

- Execute price changes and audit pricing live on site after any adjustments are taken for price changes, closeouts, or sales promotions on all channels

- Analyze sales performance and inventory standing to select the best products to showcase in emails

Merchandising and Assortment Planning Support

- Assist Category Managers with weekly sales analysis, business reports, data compilation, forecasting, and inventory management

- Research industry trends to collect and update application data for new products in the market for accurate on-site mapping

- Order product samples in a timely manner for testing or photoshoots and maintain sample room organization

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in merchandising or related field

- 1-2 years professional experience in a merchandising-related field preferred

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other productivity tools

- Excellent oral and written communication skills; Proficient in spelling and grammar

- Proven critical thinking skills and ability to analyze large datasets

- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multi-task

- Work well individually or in teams

- Thrive in a fast-paced environment where deadlines and priorities may change

- Self-motivated; willingness to take initiative, take responsibility, and be proactive in tackling projects

- Strong service orientation with the ability to explain product details clearly to non-merchandising audiences

- Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn

Working conditions

The employee may work a hybrid schedule reporting to the office at least 3 days per week, and generally adhere to a Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm work week. At times the employee might be expected to work outside normal office hours to complete outstanding tasks.
