Salary: £38,000-£40,000, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about STEM education and creating opportunities for young people? Do you want to build relationships and develop national programmes that connect universities, businesses, and volunteers with schools across the UK?
We’re looking for an experienced Programme Coordinator with working knowledge of public engagement within the UK Higher Education sector to shape and deliver high-impact outreach initiatives as part of the STEM Ambassador Programme – the UK’s largest STEM volunteering programme, engaging nearly 28,000 volunteers from over 5,000 organisations.
In this newly created dual role, reporting to the STEM Ambassadors National Programmes Lead, the HE and National Programmes Coordinator will build our relationships and partnerships with universities and Higher Education Institutions in the UK and co-develop and pilot of a range of new engagement programmes. You’ll be supporting a range of universities, research organisations and employers to bring the UK’s world-leading research and innovation into the daily lives of young people.

To achieve this, we provide a range of support to formal and informal education, including subject-specific professional development for teachers and other educators, quality assured resources, support for STEM Clubs, and student-facing experiences.
We lead the STEM Ambassadors programme, which enables 28,000 volunteers to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people and teachers throughout the UK via classroom activities, career talks, etc.

The Role
To achieve our vision, key deliverables for this role will include:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with UK Higher Education Institutions to grow the number of student and university staff STEM Ambassadors
- Develop new Higher Education partnerships to create sustainable long-term initiatives to showcase research and innovation to young people
- Manage a range of schemes and communication channels for research and innovation for STEM Ambassadors
- Develop and pilot new programmes for STEM Ambassadors, to become part of our National offer
- Use data and insights to identify needs, best practice and new opportunities, using evaluation and reporting to tell impactful stories.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver exceptional outcomes for young people.
About You

We’re looking for someone who understands what’s connecting researchers and universities to young people, who can build personable relationships to form new partnerships and can develop great programmes of activities and opportunities for young people to access STEM.
You will bring:
- Working knowledge and experience of public engagement in the Higher Education sector
- Proven experience in developing and delivering innovative education or outreach programmes for young people involving universities and/or businesses
- Strong project management skills – able to juggle multiple complex initiatives and deliver to time and budget
- A robust understanding of STEM education, the UK skills and careers agenda, and the education landscape
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the confidence to connect and champion opportunities.
