Within a therapeutic residential care setting, MYSI Corp provides case management services for stabilization and family reunification, life skills development, recreational activities, and weekly support for youth aged 14 to 17 and a half in the Group Home and 17 and a half to 21 for our Transitional Living and Independent Living Programs.

Position Overview

As a Residential Youth Advisor (RYA) you will be responsible for creating a safe, energetic, and positive environment for at-risk youth living in a residential program. The RYA II is a Leader within MYSIs residential programs and will coach and mentor the RYA I staff, leading by example as you motivate and actively engage the youth throughout the day. The RYA I implement and contributes to the creation of a dynamic and engaging program to guide youth in developing life, social, vocational, and academic skills in the home and community.

Qualifications

Job Duties :

- Manage daily care for youth in state care ages 14 to 17 and a half, with safety, overseeing morning and evening routines, mealtimes, homework periods, and clean-up duties.

- Act as a positive role model, while actively listening by responding appropriately and in earnest.

- Demonstrates integrity by respecting the environment and culture of the residence.

- Respond properly to youth during behavioral or emotional crises using MYSIs hands off techniques for conflict-resolution and de-escalation.

- Complete shift logs, medication management, and ensure that incidents and events are documented with incident reports from all staff present at the time of the event.

- Provide basic administrative assistance to program supervisors as needed.

- Demonstrates integrity by respecting the environment and culture of the residence.

- Committed to providing a positive environment in the residence and understanding how their role directly impacts the environment and behavior of clients and staff.

- Remain up-to-date and attend all required trainings assigned by the State of Illinois, Department of Children and Family Services, and MYSI.

- Participate in supervision and team meetings as required by Leadership.

- Demonstrate cultural awareness by using language that is rooted in respect for diverse individuals despite perceived socio-economic backgrounds, sexuality, sexual orientation, race, gender, color, creed, religious beliefs and more.

- Responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary residential living environment.

- Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

- Travel as required.

- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age per DCFS regulations.

- Must be able to administer CPR, First Aid and CPI. (Training provided)

- Must meet DCFS background and transportation requirements and pass a successful background check.

- Must comply with Childcare Act CH 23 part 2215.1 Section 5.1a 6.

- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs and frequently move up and downstairs as needed.

What you will bring to MYSI Corporation:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Three Years of professional experience in a social service setting preferred, including at least one year working with youth or individuals with development disabilities and some experience working in a residential setting.

- Minimum of 1yr experience working with communities facing disparities.

- Comprehensive computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365, and the use of email.

- Strong analytical skills, problem solving, and conflict resolution.

- Valid Illinois or Indiana driver's license.

- Proof of valid automobile insurance.

- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

- Proof of professional experience aligning with the mission and values of MYSI.
