Engineering is an academic discipline within the School of Engineering and Energy. The Engineering team teach key and emerging areas of Engineering at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We specialize in Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering and industrial Control & Automation Engineering. Industrial Control & Automation Engineering at Murdoch highlights a strong practical, industry-relevant learning approach, built around authentic, workshop-based activities that develop hands-on technical and professional skills. The area includes a focus on control theory and control systems, including PLC and SCADA systems, aligned with real-world design, commissioning, and implementation needs in local industry sectors. More broadly, Murdoch Engineering is nationally recognised and has a strong track record of student outcomes, including high rankings in QILT for overall quality of educational experience in Engineering. Engineering is taught at the Murdoch campus and offshore.

Your New Role!

We are seeking a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) to join our Industrial Control and Automation Engineering discipline within the School of Engineering and Energy.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a nationally recognised Engineering program through high-quality teaching, impactful research and industry engagement. You will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, contribute to curriculum innovation and help prepare graduates for careers in rapidly evolving engineering industries.

The successful candidate will have expertise in Industrial Control & Automation Engineering or a related field, with experience in areas such as control systems, industrial automation, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA systems, robotics, mechatronics or intelligent automation.

Based at our South Street campus, this position also includes teaching at one of Murdoch University's partner institutions in China. The successful candidate will be willing and able to undertake two international teaching visits each year, typically totalling four to six months annually.

Your Key responsibilities will include –

- Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering programs.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of courses and units.
- Conduct impactful research and contribute to scholarly publications.
- Engage with industry and professional stakeholders to enhance teaching and research outcomes.
- Supervise honours and postgraduate students, as appropriate to level.
- Contribute to School, College and University service activities.
- Teach at Murdoch University's partner institution in China.

This Continuous, Full Time attracts a remuneration of:

Lecturer Level B : $115,512 - $136,831 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

Senior Lecturer Level C $141,088 - $162,403 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:

- A PhD in Industrial Control & Automation Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Expertise in one or more areas including industrial automation, control systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, robotics, mechatronics or intelligent automation.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Commitment to high-quality teaching, research and student outcomes.
- Ability and willingness to undertake international teaching visits in China.
