Hiring Range: $18.79 - $22.09 Per Hour

THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION ENDING JUNE 2028.

The Pima County Community & Workforce Development Department has an opening for a Community & Workforce Technician II who will work as a receptionist and provide administrative assistance for both the front reception and the resource rooms at the different Pima County One-Stop locations.

Driving is only required for commuting to work; however, the position requires regular rotation between multiple work sites, some of which are not accessible by bus.

Community & Workforce Development Department works with vulnerable populations and minors. A Level one Fingerprint Clearance Card, a Criminal History Self Disclosure Affidavit, and a Central Registry background check are requirements for employment.

Essential Functions:

- Provides detailed information and assistance to the public, clients, and staff regarding departmental programs, procedures, and eligibility requirements;
- Handles multi-line telephone and in-person inquiries, independently resolving routine issues and referring complex matters to appropriate staff;
- Reviews, verifies, and processes applications, forms, and related documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with program standards;
- Enters, updates, and maintains program and client data in specialized databases, ensuring data integrity and generating reports as required;
- Establishes, organizes, and maintains electronic and manual filing systems to ensure accurate recordkeeping and timely document retrieval;
- Prepares, edits, and proofreads correspondence, reports, and other technical or administrative materials using various software applications;
- Coordinates the scheduling of meetings, interviews, and events, preparing necessary materials and tracking related follow-up actions;
- Provides training or guidance to clerical and support staff on office procedures and program documentation requirements;
- Operates a variety of office equipment and systems, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with departmental administrative standards;
- Greets and welcomes customers and visitors in a professional and courteous manner;
- Assesses customer needs and provides appropriate information, assistance, and direction to services, staff, programs, or resources;
- Serves as a knowledgeable resource for customers by providing information regarding department programs, workforce services, workshops, employment resources, community services, and partner agencies;
- Assists customers with computers, internet access, online job searches, employment websites, online applications, account access, document preparation, printing, scanning, and other technology-related needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) from an accredited institution AND two years of experience performing clerical, administrative or customer service tasks providing support to a department, specialized program, or small/medium sized business.

(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

OR:

One year with Pima County in a Community & Workforce Technician I or related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications : (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):

- Minimum one (1) year experience in a customer service desk environment or customer service-related field.
- Minimum six (6) months experience in a social services setting.
- Minimum one (1) year experience performing data entry.
- Minimum one (1) year experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish - speaking, reading, writing).

Selection Procedure:  
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Supplemental Information:

Licenses and Certificates :  Valid driver license is required at time of application.  Valid  AZ  driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.

Special Notice Items : This position requires a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Pima County determines whether a position is eligible for visa sponsorship at the time of recruitment. Eligibility is based on the requirements of the position and applicable laws and regulations. Not all positions with Pima County are eligible for visa sponsorship.

Physical/Sensory Requirements : Physical and sensory abilities will be determined by position. Action Activity - none; Motion Activity - simple and firm grasping, fine movement; Hearing Activity - none; Speaking Activity - in person, on the phone; Vision - may be required to operate a motor vehicle, distinguish colors, have depth perception and peripheral vision.

Working Conditions : Works regular shifts at multiple locations throughout Pima County as directed by the department. Other working conditions will be determined by position.
