Information Protection Specialist

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking an Information Protection Specialist to support the protection of sensitive information and the secure use of collaboration technologies across a global organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with business, security, and technology stakeholders to implement and operate effective information protection controls that mitigate risk while supporting business objectives.

This role is well-suited to an individual with a strong interest in information security, data protection, and emerging AI-related security capabilities, who can apply a practical and risk-based approach to delivering secure and business-aligned solutions.

What you will work on

- Support the implementation and operation of information protection controls.
- Assist with data classification and information handling initiatives.
- Help reduce the risk of sensitive information being shared or handled inappropriately.
- Investigate and analyze potential information protection events and support appropriate follow-up.
- Contribute to improvements in data governance and information management processes.
- Support secure collaboration and the responsible adoption of AI-enabled capabilities.
- Work with business users to understand requirements and provide practical guidance.
- Participate in security initiatives, improvement activities and technology projects.
- Prepare reporting, metrics, procedures and supporting documentation.
- Contribute to compliance, assurance and audit activities.

Qualifications you have for this role

- Minimum three (3) years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Cybersecurity or Information Security
- Data Protection, Privacy, or Data Governance
- Information Management or Records Management
- IT Operations, Cloud Services, or Endpoint Management
- Risk, Compliance, Assurance, or Audit
- Security Monitoring, Incident Investigation, or Incident Response

- Working knowledge of information classification and information handling practices.
- Understanding of data protection and information security controls.
- Familiarity with security monitoring, incident investigation, and response processes.
- Knowledge of identity and access management principles.
- Experience with cloud-based productivity and collaboration platforms.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications are expected.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with privacy, compliance, and information lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of AI security and governance principles.
- Experience in a global or complex organisational environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft security and compliance solutions (e.g., Purview, Defender, Entra ID).
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, SC-200, SC-300, SC-400, or equivalent).
