The technnologist is responsible to perform high quality diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures according to the established protocols, under the supervision of a qualified physician for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. Maintains the necessary records to the required standards of the Department of Natural Resource's standards.The technologist provides direct patient care to all ages of patients. The technologist is provide very good customer service; that is to treat every patient with respect, courtesy, and explain the exam to the patient. The technologist must be able to work together with others providing a positive work environment.

Qualifications
Vocational/Technical Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology Required
Work Experience
1 or more years Nuclear Medicine experience. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
Certified Nurclear Medicine Technology (N)(ARRT) Required or
NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech Required
BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
Essential Functions
Follow the proper procedures to ensure Radiation Safety and Protection to the staff and patients.
When performing the exam on the patient, only radiate the area of interest.
Shield the patient's gonads region especially children and adults of childbearing age.
Limit repeats exposures to the patients, by ensuring the equipment is set up correctly.
Wear radiation monitoring badges at all times.
Wear protective equipment when in the radiation field (fluoroscopic exams and or holding patients). Protective equipment-Lead aprons and gloves, thtroid shield and leaded glasses.
Stand behind the protective barrier, when not required to be in the radiation field. Limit exposure by limiting exposure time to radiation and increase your distance from the radiation source.
Ensure the safety of others during the exam by having them behind the lead barrier or wear radiation protective equipment during an exposure.
Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.
Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.
Ensures that documentation is tailored to expected readers / users.
Uses correct terminology.
Conforms to required style and format.
Demonstrates technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role.
Understands equipment operation.
Maintains equipment in working order. Troubleshoots equipment problems.
Uses technology to increase productivity. Adapts to new technology
Perform the procedures according to the department protocols.
Identify the patient according to hospital policy.
Ensure that the correct procedure is performed on the patient by reviewing the patient medical record and/or physicians orders.
Explain the exam/procedure to the patient and/or family member.
Set up the procedure room and (or) equipment for the exam.
Perform the procedures according to the department protocols. Ensure the exam is properly labeled.
QA the exam in PACS before it is release for interpretation.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly QA procedures on the equipment.
Treats patients and families with compassion and implements plan of care.
Bases care decisions on plan of care.
Monitors and documents patient response.
Establishes rapport with clients. Adapts communication style, listens and responds to patient needs.
Recognizes age-specific responses to treatment. Provides effective interventions.
Respects patients confidentiality and privacy.
Supports social, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and families.
Manages difficult or emotional patient situations.
