The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre provides support to projects that range in complexity and size with our service offerings spanning across Programme and Project Management, Project Planning, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and Commercial Disciplines.
We provide support to the full project lifecycle both pre-contract and post contract, delivering infrastructure projects on behalf of our clients, that range from several hundred thousand pounds in value to major projects and programmes worth over £200M.
Due to growing client requirements, we are actively looking to expand the team and have talented individuals join us who will support our Defence client portfolio, whilst further developing their career, working on a range of complex and challenging commissions.
Job Description

Our Defence business provides a wide range of services supporting end to end programme management all of which require logistics expertise. We already have a well developed Operational Delivery team working across multiple capability areas and are now in the process of developing our Defence Infrastructure offering. In conjunction with our other commercial infrastructure colleagues, we are building an integrated logistics capability to enhance this offering, providing strategy, planning and set up advice to clients that keeps their programmes within the art of the possible and derisks delivery.
Joining this team as a champion of integrated logistics is an exciting opportunity to be at the cutting edge of the infrastructure world while supporting the development of Defence capability.
The Opportunity
We are looking for enthusiastic, talented, and proactive individuals to join our Logistics Team, within Defence. Our growing team needs people with hands on experience working in a major project environment – whether you’re a champion of change, a connoisseur of consents or a perfect PM with a logistics background we’d love to hear from you about how you could help us to deliver tangible results for our clients.
Logistics (Defence & Infrastructure) work across a range of programmes both within Defence and commercial sectors. Drawing on the basic idea that the earlier logistics are given consideration, the better the final outcome. We aim to play a major role in project planning and the development of strategies. We advise on initial set-up and the establishment of robust procedures to provide the client with the visibility and controls required to maintain governance and assurance, as well as maintaining a golden thread for asset tracking and management from procurement through to operations and through life management.
As part of the Logistics Team your key responsibilities will include:
- Working as part of an integrated project team to ensure the delivery of key client deliverables
- Designing and facilitating client workshops and presentations
- Managing client relationships
- Identifying and realising business development opportunities
- Contributing towards the preparation of bid proposals
- Supporting internal initiatives within the Defence and Infrastructure teams, such as the development of programme integration products and methodologies.
- Mentoring and line managing junior staff (where applicable).
- Provide strategic consultancy services to clients on logistics and supply chain management.
- Support the development and implementation of innovative logistics strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Advise clients on best practices in logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
- Conduct thorough analyses of clients' logistics processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to design and implement customized logistics solutions.
- Support the development of logistics-related proposals and presentations for clients.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to provide cutting-edge advice.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in logistics operations.
- Support the development of an integrated best in class construction / logistics delivery planning service offer.
Qualifications
- A thorough knowledge of logistic principles and processes such as S&OP and JIT delivery
- A sound understanding of the planning and development of major projects
- A working knowledge of CDM regulations, the RIBA stages and NEC 4 options
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities

- A Defence background would be a disirable, but is not essential.
