About this role

Description

Own risk and fraud prevention for Amazon Crédito, Amazon's first-party lending product in Brazil, and protect a brand-new credit business from day one. You will map the product journey end-to-end, find where fraudsters and abusers get in, and build the mechanisms that stop them — before losses scale.

This is a builder's role at the intersection of lending, identity, and payment risk. Embedded with the Amazon Crédito team and reporting into Payments Trust's Integrity function, you will help shape the fraud & abuse approach for the product, assess and prioritize risk against a defined risk appetite, ship detection and prevention mechanisms, stand up the metrics that prove they work, and lead the response when new fraud patterns emerge. As Amazon Crédito scales, you are accountable for keeping fraud and abuse loss within acceptable thresholds.

Key job responsibilities
- Map the journey and identify risks. Map the Amazon Crédito customer journey end to end — sign-up, credit-line usage, and post-purchase disputes — pinpoint where fraud and abuse get in, assess exposure by likelihood and impact against the product's risk appetite, and prioritize where controls are needed most.
- Design and support prevention solutions. Know what the market and Amazon offer, and build data-backed business cases that support build-vs-integrate prioritization — partnering with engineering, product, and data teams to ship controls that stop fraud and abuse without friction for legitimate customers.
- Detect emerging fraud patterns and respond to spikes. Build mechanisms that surface new fraud tactics early, set alerts and thresholds, and act quickly to contain losses when a spike happens.
- Set the metrics and track results. Define how success is measured, make the numbers visible in real time, and hold the program to its loss-reduction targets.
- Report progress to leadership. Give clear, data-backed updates on the risks, how controls perform, and what's next.
- Work hand in hand with the Amazon Crédito team. Join their weekly rhythm, build the relationships that make prevention work, and bring the fraud & abuse view into product and business decisions.

A day in the life
You start in the weekly, listening for what's changing in Amazon Crédito and where new exposure is opening up. Mid-morning you dig into a flagged pattern — a cluster of accounts sharing the same device — and decide whether it's a spike worth acting on. After lunch you work with engineering to scope a new identity-check control, then update your metrics dashboard ahead of a leadership review. You close the day drafting a one-pager on an emerging fraud pattern, with a clear recommendation. Some days you're building strategy; some days you're stopping losses in real time. Both matter.

About the team
Amazon LATAM Payments Trust builds the compliance, identity, and fraud & abuse prevention mechanisms that create trust in payment transactions — letting millions of customers transact safely and enabling Amazon to scale new products in a dynamic payments market. We own this end-to-end across the region, from setting strategy to shipping the mechanisms that run in production.
We are a small, senior, high-trust team with a lot of ownership and a strong bias for action. We think in mechanisms, not one-offs; we ground decisions in data; and we care about building things that last and replicate across markets.
