We’re looking for an experienced Banquet Captain who can confidently lead teams and execute large, fast-paced events at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
The ideal candidate brings strong banquet knowledge, a sense of urgency, accountability, and the ability to solve problems quickly while keeping service running smoothly.

Essential Duties
- Reviews CADs (Catering Diagrams) and BEOs (Banquet Event Orders) with the Banquet Manager in advance to align on event expectations and identify any issues before guest arrival.
- Conducts daily and pre-event inspections of banquet areas, storage rooms, public spaces, floors, linens, and furniture to ensure pristine cleanliness, organization, and ServSafe compliance.
- Oversees banquet service staff during events to keep timelines on track, ensure high-level guest care, and maintain a visible presence from beginning to end.
- Conducts pre-meal briefings for servers and bartenders prior to each function.
- Collaborates with management to maintain up-to-date liquor and equipment inventories in order to minimize rental needs.
- Partners with the Banquet Set-up Lead to oversee post-event teardown, organization, and sanitation of catering storerooms, kitchens, and liquor rooms.
- Completes post-event reports to pass necessary operational information on to the banquet team.
- Assists the Banquet Manager in implementing progressive staff training programs during training sessions and live events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- 1 year of experience in banquets, catering events, or related food and beverage industry.
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays, as needed.
- Ability to pass Serve Safe Certification within 30 days of hire.
Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have
- Strong banquet and food & beverage experience, including professional bartending and mixology.
- Comfortable managing events across a large venue with significant square footage and multiple event spaces.
- Strong sense of urgency with quick decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on leadership style with experience coaching and training by example.
- Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to guest service and successful event execution.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and BEOs.
- TIPS certification, or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
