About International Special Risks:
International Special Risks (ISR), operating in all 50 states, is one of the largest Marine intermediary insurance brokers and program managers in the US. We pride ourselves on providing professional technical expertise and tremendous market access to retail agents and brokers. While mainstream marine business continues to be the focal point of ISR, we currently place both full and participating lines in the US market for some of the world’s largest marine accounts. We are not surplus lines brokers, but rather marine insurance specialists.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Marine Account Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years experience in P&C Account Management with Marine experience preferred and possess a willingness to learn as well as exceptional organizational and client-facing skills. This role requires working collaboratively with clients, underwriters, and internal teams to provide exceptional service and maintain smooth operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume ultimate responsibility for management and retention/servicing of existing/new wholesale and retail marine business generated by the Team Producer with an opportunity to produce new business as appropriate.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze commercial marine accounts for coverage, limits, etc. and make appropriate recommendations to clients and producers.
- Work with management on new business initiatives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients/producers to ensure that all service needs are met.
- Handle service of accounts, and as appropriate, coordinate with an assigned Assistant/Account Manager.
- Develop exposure information from clients/producers and vet and/or prepare Applications, etc. for submission to the market for both new and renewal business.
- Determine proper marketing strategy based on a client or producer’s needs.
- Vet quotes received from the market for compliance with what was requested and present to our producers in a timely fashion and create proposals, etc. and present to retail clients.
- Interface with accounting department on an as needed basis.
- Keep informed of changes and trends within the industry for the purpose of anticipating and responding to the needs of the producers/clients.
- Conduct business in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of both the business objectives and earnings potential of the company.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Manager.

- Strong administrative and problem solving capabilities with emphasis on attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
- Effective time management and multitasking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional ability to interface with clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Property & Casualty (P&C) license required at time of hire or within 6 months of hire.
Salary Transparency:
The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
