Job Title:  Regional Safety Manager

Job Summary:  The Regional Safety Manager oversees and directs Alston Construction’s Safety Program for their assigned area(s), training employees on the Safety Program and acting as a resource for safety-related items. The overall goal is to protect the Company’s interests and support employees so they can successfully complete a quality project safely, while promoting and enhancing client relationships and the company’s image.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include:

- Support and promote Alston Construction’s strong safety culture, both internally and externally, using discretion and independent judgment to resolve daily issues.

- In coordination with the Corporate Safety Director, plan, develop, and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA.

- Identify training needs and develop safety awareness initiatives; monitor, manage, and conduct new hire safety orientations and ongoing safety training in accordance with Alston’s safety training matrix.

- Design and implement metrics to monitor the progress and effectiveness of safety initiatives, programs, and policies.

- Provide guidance and consultation to Superintendents, Project Managers, and other personnel on safety policy and subcontractor compliance, including evaluating subcontractor safety records through the SPERS process.

- Conduct regular safety inspections and jobsite compliance reviews, develop corrective action steps, and prepare and distribute detailed reports of findings.

- Manage OSHA site visits and inspections, and investigate incidents (near-misses to fatalities) using Root Cause Analysis, reporting findings to the Director of Safety and Executive Vice President.

- Investigate, manage, and maintain Workers’ Compensation claims and oversee the return-to-work program.

- Represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.

- Other related duties.

Education, Experience, and Licensing/Certifications include:

- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, and a minimum of 7 years of experience in construction safety management with a general contractor. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

- Valid state-issued driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and vehicle insurance meeting Alston Construction’s liability coverage requirements.

- OSHA 30-Hour Certification (OSHA 500 preferred) and First Aid/CPR/AED Certification, along with additional safety certifications such as Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Excavation and Trenching, and HAZCOM.

- CSP, CHST, or other safety certification preferred.

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required to communicate safety policies, training, and jobsite instructions to subcontractor crews and personnel.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and CMiC.
