What Will You Do?
The Senior Residential Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for assigned residential and community-based programs. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality services, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, financial stewardship, and positive experiences for individuals served, families, referral partners, and staff.
The Senior Residential Manager leads multidisciplinary teams, drives continuous quality improvement, supports workforce development, and fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and person-centered care. As a key organizational leader, this position serves as a liaison with healthcare providers, community partners, payers, regulatory agencies, and referral sources while advancing the organization's mission, values, and strategic priorities. The Senior Residential Manager demonstrates exceptional leadership, customer service, and commitment to creating an environment that promotes recovery, inclusion, dignity, and excellence.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Program Operations Communicates, models, and advances the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities.
- Provides overall leadership and oversight of assigned residential and community-based programs.
- Ensures programs achieve established goals related to quality, safety, compliance, financial performance, and satisfaction outcomes.
- Leads program and department initiatives designed to enhance service delivery, customer experience, and organizational effectiveness.
- Contributes to the development and execution of strategic and operational plans.
- Serves as a leader and change champion by identifying opportunities for innovation, process improvement, and operational efficiencies.
- Maintains a positive, solution-focused approach during periods of change, growth, uncertainty, or crisis.
- Establishes measurable goals and performance indicators to support program success and continuous improvement.
- Oversees multidisciplinary projects and initiatives from planning through implementation and evaluation.
- Participates in internal committees, organizational workgroups, and external community partnerships as assigned.
- Quality, Compliance & Performance Improvement Promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement and operational excellence.
- Provides guidance and expertise related to quality, performance improvement, and outcomes measurement.
- Ensures teams have access to data, tools, and resources necessary to identify barriers and implement improvements.
- Monitors program performance, identifies trends, and develops corrective or preventive action plans as needed.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, and workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and outcomes.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Documents quality improvement activities, project outcomes, and performance metrics.
- Financial Management Demonstrates responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
- Assists with budget development, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Monitors budgets, analyzes financial performance, and addresses variances through appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensures efficient utilization of resources while maintaining quality service delivery.
- Admissions, Referrals & Community Relations Oversees admission, discharge, outreach, and referral processes for assigned programs.
- Facilitates timely admissions, including coordination of urgent and complex placements.
- Ensures effective communication regarding individual needs to support successful transitions into services.
- Manages program reporting related to admissions, discharges, occupancy, and outreach activities.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with hospitals, referral sources, payers, community providers, and external stakeholders.
- Represents the organization through meetings, presentations, tours, networking opportunities, and community engagement activities.
- Collaborates with contract managers and external partners when applicable.
- Team Leadership & Staff Development Ensures adequate staffing to supports safety and quality of services and operational needs.
- Participates in recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention efforts.
- Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for assigned staff.
- Fosters a collaborative team environment where all staff are respected, valued, and empowered to contribute ideas, feedback, and expertise in support of high quality care
- Clearly communicates expectations, priorities, policies, and organizational goals.
- Promotes staff engagement, professional growth, accountability, and recognition.
- Provides and coordinates training, education, and competency development activities.
- Ensures staff maintain required certifications, training, and compliance standards.

- Maintains all required annual training and demonstrated competencies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provides direct and indirect supervision of multidisciplinary staff and leadership team members.
- May supervise Team Leaders, Program Supervisors, or other leaders responsible for distinct residential or community-based programs.
- Maintains accountability for team performance, development, engagement and operational outcomes
What Does This Role Require?
- Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related behavioral health or healthcare field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership, management, or program administration experience in behavioral health, residential services, healthcare, or a closely related setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing operations, and driving performance improvement initiatives.
- Valid Michigan driver's license, acceptable driving record, and ability to operate organizational vehicles when required.
- Professional licensure applicable to discipline or area of practice is preferred.
- Experience in residential treatment, community-based services, behavioral health, or integrated healthcare environments is preferred.
