Job Title: Validation and Test Engineer Job Description
This role focuses on designing, developing, and executing tests that validate the functionality and reliability of electronic components and sensor systems. You will work closely with design engineering, manufacturing, and customer technical services teams to plan and carry out design verification and validation activities, qualify new products and product changes, and address technical risks. The position requires hands-on work with electronic hardware and sensors, detailed analysis of test results, and preparation of clear technical reports that support product improvements and manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Support design engineering in the design, development, and execution of test plans to prove out component and system functionality and reliability.
- Plan and execute design verification and validation activities to qualify new products and product changes and to address technical risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate technical issues and drive resolution activities across engineering, manufacturing, and customer technical services.
- Support manufacturing by designing and executing test activities that qualify improvements to production materials and methods.
- Plan and participate in verification and validation tests in the field in support of customer technical services.
- Lead the qualification, testing, and failure analysis of sensor components, subassemblies, and complete sensor systems.
- Perform hands-on testing and analysis to troubleshoot process and manufacturing issues related to non-conforming production materials.
- Develop and propose detailed action plans to improve processes and components in order to increase manufacturing efficiency, quality, yield, cost effectiveness, and product performance.
- Prepare clear and comprehensive technical documents, including test and analysis plans, test result reports, product change proposals, and change verification test reports.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization and collaborate across functions.
- Influence decision-making and technical direction without relying on formal authority by presenting data-driven recommendations and insights.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with electrical and electronics engineering, including component-level work and circuit board experience.
- Practical experience with PCB design and understanding of electronic components and sensor hardware.
- Validation and testing experience in an electronic or sensor-based environment, including design verification and validation activities.
- Ability to lead qualification, testing, and failure analysis of sensor components, subassemblies, and complete sensors.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot process and manufacturing issues and interpret test data to identify root causes.
- Ability to prepare structured technical reports, including test plans, test results, and product change documentation.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with design engineering, manufacturing, and customer technical services teams.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships and interact effectively with all levels within the organization.
- Ability to influence outcomes and technical decisions without formal authority.
- Proficiency with Python for test automation, data analysis, or scripting related to validation and testing activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Electrical degree preferred, combined with relevant hands-on experience in electronics or sensor systems.
- Experience working with sensor technologies, including quality control tools, customer-facing measurement tools, and high-speed industrial sensors, is highly beneficial.
- Background in validation and testing of electronic hardware in production or industrial environments.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams and participating in field verification and validation activities.
- Strong written communication skills for documenting test procedures, results, and product changes.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple testing activities, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based at a facility in Albuquerque, NM, with work performed on site five days per week. You will work in an environment focused on developing advanced anti-counterfeiting solutions and sensor technologies used for product and document security. The setting includes collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and technical service teams, as well as access to electronic test equipment, sensor prototypes, and production materials. The work involves hands-on lab and production floor activities, field testing support, and regular interaction with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure product quality and reliability.

This is a Permanent position based out of Albuquerque, NM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
