As Director, Benefits, Pension and Leave Management, you will define and lead the strategy, governance, and evolution of benefits, wellness, pension, group savings, disability management, and leave-related programs and policies. You will be accountable for their competitiveness, compliance, financial sustainability, and alignment with Pomerleau's business priorities and total rewards strategy.

Reporting to the Vice President, Total Rewards, you will provide cross-functional leadership across Human Resources, Finance, Legal, Payroll, and Operations. You will lead external partners and ensure disciplined management of risk, costs, and employee experience.
What you will do

1. Strategy, Governance and Organizational Leadership
• Define and implement the strategy for benefits, pension, group savings, disability management, and leave programs.
• Advise senior leadership on market trends, risks, opportunities, and strategic decisions.
• Ensure alignment of programs with the total rewards strategy, business priorities, and employee experience.
• Establish effective governance and anticipate the impact of legislative and market developments.
2. Benefits and Wellness
• Lead the evolution of benefits and wellness programs to ensure competitiveness and relevance.
• Oversee renewals, market benchmarking, and financial analyses.
• Recommend enhancements that support attraction, retention, and employee engagement.
• Act as a trusted advisor to HR partners and business leaders.
3. Pension and Group Savings Plans
• Provide oversight for the governance, compliance, and evolution of pension and group savings plans.
• Lead actuarial, financial, and regulatory analyses that support decision-making.
• Manage relationships with actuaries, plan administrators, and external partners.
• Lead the implementation of significant plan changes.
4. Disability Management and Return to Work
• Define the organization's approach to disability management and return-to-work programs.
• Ensure a consistent, compliant, and employee-focused approach, including the management of complex cases.
• Monitor trends and performance indicators to optimize outcomes and costs.
5. Leave Management
• Define and evolve policies related to employee leaves and absences.
• Ensure consistency, compliance, and fairness across jurisdictions and employee groups.
• Analyze operational and financial impacts while advising HR partners and leaders on complex situations.
6. Financial Management, Risk and Performance
• Lead budget planning and financial oversight for programs within the portfolio.
• Assess the financial impact of proposed changes and provide strategic recommendations.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators and risk metrics.
• Balance employee experience, program competitiveness, and long-term financial sustainability.
7. Team Leadership, Vendors and Transformation
• Lead, develop, and engage a specialized team.
• Establish priorities, service standards, and performance expectations.
• Oversee vendor relationships, RFP processes, and strategic negotiations.
• Drive digital transformation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role could be for you if you have

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in benefits, pension, leave management, or total rewards.
• Significant leadership experience with strategic, financial, and operational accountability.
• Expertise in plan governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and external partner management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to influence decision-making and provide strategic recommendations.
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
• Bilingualism in English and French is required due to regular interactions with employees, vendors, consultants, and partners across Canada.
