Role Overview:
This role is the senior technical “floor lead” for the London operation, providing day-to-day functional leadership to Senior Event & Conference Technicians and Technicians, ensuring seamless delivery and consistent service excellence across event spaces, conference and meeting rooms, video conferencing and live streaming support.
The Lead combines deep technical capability with strong stakeholder engagement, documentation discipline (SOPs/training materials), and a keen interest in computer science and emerging technologies (including AI); software development or automation experience is advantageous to support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership / Service Delivery:
- To lead the day-to-day operation for Senior Technicians and Technicians (and any flexible resource) ensuring the team culture, standards and ways of working are consistent, professional and end-user focused.
- To be the point of contact for any visiting contractors or sub-contractors and support the onsite manager with coordination where required or delegate where necessary.
- To oversee the training of new technicians and ongoing development of the team through coaching, knowledge sharing and maintaining clear operating standards.
Events / Executive Support:
- Ownership of integrated event spaces including operation of high-profile auditorium-based results presentations, town halls and other events requiring enhanced technical support.
- To be very presentable and able to liaise with senior executives in a calm and professional manner at all times both face to face and via telephone/Zoom.
- Be an ambassador for proAV both in front of clients and our main stakeholders
Technical:
- Oversee onsite AV systems across event spaces, video conference meeting rooms and portable systems, acting as the technical point of escalation for complex issues and supporting swift resolution.
- Proficient in audio, video and lighting equipment (digital and analogue) and video/audio conference set-up and support with software and hardware platforms including Zoom, Cisco & Polycom systems.
- Manage all aspects of video calls from initial booking through to monitoring and completion, including scheduling and full systems operational testing prior to any high-profile event.
- Carry out Senior Technician duties as and when needed.
Preventative Maintenance / Room Health:
- Working alongside Remediation support by locating faults and providing resolutions, including fix/replace/upgrade hardware when relevant in support of AV & VC facilities.
- Managing the team’s 1st / 2nd line repairs and ongoing preventative maintenance including daily/quarterly checks on equipment, supporting room health and operational readiness.
Documentation / Continuous Improvement :
- Production of SOPs, training manuals and other ad-hoc support documentation as needed to improve consistency, reduce repeat issues and support technician development.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in computer science and emerging technologies (including AI); software development or automation experience is an advantage and will support continuous improvement across the service.
Operational / Admin Contribution:
- Administration necessary to support the role utilising Microsoft Office applications, Zoom back-end, bespoke ticketing systems and room booking software, ensuring professional communication and timely responses.
- Contribute to monthly deliverables and operational reporting when requested (e.g., volumes, team efficiency and ad-hoc reporting), and support resourcing discussions/forecasting inputs with the Operations team.
Resource Admin:
- E-Permits: Opening permits, uploading RAMS, tracking PV resources and status on e-Permit
- Management of compliance requirements and time frames for on-boarded and permit-vetted resources
- Checking and validating overtime forms
General Admin:
- Requesting quotes for travel, getting client approval, and confirming cost centers
- Arranging purchase orders for suppliers via appropriate proAV departments
