Position Overview
American Eagle ready mix is seeking a dependable and experienced Ready-Mix Plant Electrician & Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the electrical, mechanical, and control systems that keep our ready-mix concrete plant operating safely and efficiently.
This position is responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, responding to breakdowns, and completing repairs to minimize plant downtime. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, conveyors, batching equipment, and general mechanical maintenance.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, diagnosing problems, performing repairs, and communicating equipment issues and maintenance needs with plant operators, the Plant Mechanic Lead, and Plant Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment throughout the ready-mix plant.
- Diagnose electrical problems involving motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, sensors, switches, control panels, and related components.
- Troubleshoot and maintain control systems, and automated batching equipment.
- Repair and maintain electrical wiring, panels, disconnects, lighting, and other electrical components.
- Use electrical meters and diagnostic equipment to identify and troubleshoot electrical problems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
- Identify worn, damaged, or malfunctioning electrical components and complete repairs or replacements as needed.
Mechanical Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on plant equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical components including conveyors, mixers, belts, bearings, motors, gearboxes, gates, pumps, compressors, and batch plant components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and complete repairs to minimize plant downtime.
- Identify worn or damaged mechanical components and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- Assist with diagnosing recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions.
- Support general maintenance and repair of plant infrastructure and equipment.
Welding & Fabrication
- Assist with welding, cutting, fabrication, and modification of plant equipment and structural components.
- Repair or modify equipment components as needed to maintain safe and efficient plant operation.
- Perform basic fabrication and general repair work using appropriate tools and equipment.
Plant Support & Operations
- Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions, breakdowns, and emergency maintenance needs.
- Work closely with plant operators to identify equipment concerns and resolve operational issues.
- Communicate maintenance needs, equipment conditions, repair status, and recurring problems to the Plant Mechanic Lead and Plant Manager.
- Assist plant personnel with mechanical and electrical issues as needed.
- Help maintain reliable plant operation and minimize equipment downtime.
- Perform additional maintenance and operational duties as assigned.
Preventative Maintenance
- Complete routine inspections and preventative maintenance according to established schedules.
- Inspect belts, bearings, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, mixers, electrical components, and other plant equipment.
- Lubricate, adjust, tighten, replace, and repair components as required.
- Identify potential equipment failures before they result in unplanned downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
- Follow proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when servicing or maintaining equipment.
- Follow confined space, fall-protection, hot-work, and other applicable safety procedures.
- Wear all required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment hazards, and potential safety concerns.
- Never bypass or disable safety devices or procedures.
- Follow safe work practices when working around energized electrical equipment, moving machinery, heavy equipment, and elevated plant structures.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an industrial electrician, maintenance technician, plant mechanic, or similar position preferred.
- Experience with ready-mix concrete, aggregate, asphalt, manufacturing, construction, or other industrial plants is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, and troubleshooting.
- Experience troubleshooting automated equipment, and batching systems is a plus.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and mechanical documentation.
- Experience using electrical meters, hand tools, power tools, and mechanical repair equipment.
- Basic welding, cutting, and fabrication skills are a plus.
- Ability to diagnose problems and determine effective repair solutions.
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergency equipment breakdowns.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Critical Skills
Electrical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motors, controls, wiring, and troubleshooting.
Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical systems, plant equipment, repair techniques, and preventative maintenance.
Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical problems and determine effective repair solutions.

Communication: Ability to clearly communicate equipment problems, repair status, and maintenance needs.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
This position works primarily in an outdoor industrial ready-mix plant environment and may involve exposure to:

The employee must be able to:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in awkward positions.
- Climb ladders and safely access plant equipment.
- Work at heights when required.
- Use hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and mechanical repair equipment.
- Work safely around moving machinery and industrial equipment.
- Work extended hours, weekends, or respond to emergency breakdowns when operational needs are required.
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Monday–Friday schedule
- Early mornings, extended hours, overtime, or occasional weekends may be required based on plant operations.
- Must be available to respond to emergency equipment breakdowns and after-hours maintenance needs when required.
