Job Summary
The Assembly Technician is responsible for performing a variety of assembly, gasket-cutting, adhesive-application, and equipment-handling operations. This position requires the ability to interpret prints and work orders, maintain close tolerances, operate tools and equipment safely, and ensure completed work meets established specifications.
### Pay Rate: $26.88 per hour
Shift Differential: Additional $0.85 per hour, where applicable
One-Year Pay Increase: Increases to $31.62 per hour on the employee’s one-year anniversary date
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive and interpret instructions, prints, and work orders.
- Plan and perform a wide variety of assembly operations.
- Maintain close tolerances and proper alignment.
- Rig and operate the department crane to handle, move, and position parts and units.
- Use a variety of equipment, tools, fixtures, instruments, and gauges.
- Apply sound knowledge of work practices, techniques, and equipment operation to complete complex assignments.
- Plan and execute difficult or non-routine work assignments.
- Perform gasket-cutting operations.
- Apply adhesives and gasketing to heat exchangers as required.
- Lubricate and clean equipment daily.
- Inspect completed work using gauges and other measuring instruments.
- Ensure products and components meet specifications and work-order requirements without deviation.
- Take responsibility for the quality of completed work.
- Follow all safety procedures and shop rules.
- Assist with training new employees within the job classification.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year of manufacturing assembly experience.
- Ability to pass a written test.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, fixtures, equipment, and measuring instruments.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift approximately 30–35 pounds.
- Ability to stand, reach, bend, and move throughout the facility regularly.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing-floor environment.
- Regularly required to listen, communicate with employees, and visually inspect work and surroundings.
- Must be able to follow required safety procedures and wear applicable personal protective equipment.
