What role you will play on our team

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Construction Engineer with 5-15 years of experience to join our industry leading Global Projects team. Construction Engineers are responsible for in-depth construction problem-solving, acting as the main point of contact for the site construction team and ensuring collaboration with engineering, procurement, quality, materials management, and system completion teams. The role may include site services, material management, or managing a multidiscipline scope of work as defined by Site Leadership. This position is located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Job Role Description

Construction Engineers are responsible for in-depth construction problem-solving, acting as the main point of contact for the site construction team and ensuring collaboration with engineering, procurement, quality, materials management, and system completion teams. The role may include site services, material management, or managing a multidiscipline scope of work as defined by Site Leadership.

What you will do

- Developing into a 'Champion' of safety performance through active engagement with the safety program and the craft

- Support the integration of Contractor/subcontractor's workface planning with engineering, quality, procurement, and systems completion activities.

- Provide surveillance for conformance with the contract in execution of the work scope

- Assist with driving site construction / fabrication safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance in assigned areas/scope.

- Perform / support / lead (as requested) discrete tasks to improve construction management systems and safety, planning, and execution tools. Perform detailed analyses on construction execution data and metrics.

- Actively participate in removing constraints that would hinder Contractor's organization, planning, execution, and controls, and support improvement plans to close gaps in performance.

- Assist with facilitation of interfaces (design, other construction / fabrication sites, commissioning / startup, operations, third parties, etc.)

- Role is a field-based role - individual will be driving or riding along with more experienced construction staff to various work sites for field-level engagements with craft worker

Skills and Qualifications

- Engineering degree required

- Demonstrated technical and/or leadership capability

- Strong communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills

- Ability to analyze and discuss complex concepts effectively

- Ability to work autonomously and contribute to success of a team

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

- 5-10+ years of experience

- Oil & Gas experience

- Leadership experience

- Project Management (construction and project engineering)

- Bid Review & Planning, Safety Leadership, Process Improvement & Analysis, Contractor Support, Knowledge Capture

- Participate in EPC bid reviews, evaluating contractor construction processes, capabilities, and resource plans

- Contribute to detailed design and project planning activities, including advanced work packaging, model reviews, constructability assessments, and path of construction development

- Leading implementation of site safety programs aligned with the company’s PSMS safety model

- Demonstrate leadership in safety performance by engaging with craft personnel and promoting a strong safety culture

- Identify and develop construction interfaces with existing site operations, other projects, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities

- Focal point of coordination between engineering, procurement, commissioning / startup, operations, and third-party stakeholders

- Lead or support initiatives to improve construction management systems, safety programs, planning tools, and execution processes

- Perform detailed analysis of construction execution data and metrics to identify improvement opportunities

- Assist contractors and subcontractors by removing constraints that impact performance and ensuring compliance with contract requirements

- Support systems completion and turnover activities to enable safe and timely project delivery

- Lead lessons learned reviews and contribute to preparation of final report sections to improve future project performance
