Sanabria & Associates, PLLC is a fast-growing and highly respected law firm with offices throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. We are currently seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join our team in one of our Maryland or Florida offices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law, demonstrated experience managing and mentoring attorneys, and a proven ability to oversee a diverse caseload in a fast-paced legal environment. We are looking for a motivated professional who is an excellent communicator, collaborative team member, effective leader, and self-starter. Candidates must possess strong business acumen, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, growth-oriented practice.

The selected attorney will be responsible for handling a substantial immigration caseload, maintaining day-to-day client relationships, managing and mentoring a team of attorneys, meeting critical deadlines, and actively participating as a member of the firm’s leadership team. The ability to manage multiple priorities, oversee complex matters, provide effective leadership, and deliver exceptional client service is essential. This position will report directly to the Partner Board.

The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the firm’s leadership team, providing strategic direction, leading attorneys, strengthening client relationships, and driving the firm’s continued growth and success.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and oversee a diverse portfolio of immigration matters, including humanitarian relief, removal defense, family-based petitions, asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), U Visas, VAWA petitions, waivers, adjustment of status, consular processing, cancellation of removal, permanent residency, citizenship, and other forms of immigration relief
- Develop, direct, and oversee legal strategies for complex immigration matters from initial consultation through final resolution, ensuring high-quality representation and effective client advocacy
- Conduct consultations with prospective clients, evaluate potential immigration relief options, assess case viability and risk, and provide strategic legal recommendations
- Manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining oversight of case strategy, quality, workflow, and compliance with all court, agency, and filing deadlines
- Represent clients before Immigration Courts, USCIS, EOIR, ICE, and other government agencies, including master calendar hearings, individual hearings, asylum interviews, adjustment interviews, and other immigration proceedings
- Review, prepare, and approve applications, petitions, motions, briefs, appeals, waivers, legal memoranda, and other immigration filings, ensuring accuracy, legal sufficiency, and adherence to firm standards
- Conduct and oversee legal research involving complex or evolving immigration issues and provide strategic guidance on significant legal developments
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop attorneys providing substantive legal guidance, performance feedback, training, and oversight to maintain high standards of legal work and client service
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for attorneys and staff handling complex, sensitive, or high-risk immigration matters
- Maintain strong client relationships by providing clear strategic guidance, setting expectations, communicating significant case developments, and ensuring a consistently high level of client service
- Develop and maintain productive professional relationships with clients, government agencies, community organizations, referral partners, and other external stakeholders
- Serve as an active member of firm leadership, collaborating with other leaders on legal operations, attorney performance, staffing needs, client experience, and the strategic direction of the immigration practice
- Help establish and maintain firm-wide standards for case strategy, legal quality, professional responsibility, case management, and client communication
- Identify opportunities to improve case management systems, workflows, policies, procedures, and operational practices to increase efficiency, accountability, and client outcomes
- Assist in developing and implementing firm policies, procedures, training programs, and professional development initiatives for attorneys and legal staff
- Stay current on developments in immigration laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and relevant case law, and ensure that attorneys and staff are informed of significant changes affecting the firm's practice
- Contribute to the growth and strategic development of the immigration practice, including identifying opportunities to expand services, strengthen client retention, and improve the firm's competitive position
- Participate in business development initiatives, professional networking, community outreach, marketing efforts, referral development, and other activities designed to generate new business and strengthen the firm's presence in the community
- Support client retention and new client engagement initiatives and help develop strategies for strengthening long-term relationships with clients and referral sources
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional development, and exceptional client service across the legal team
- Work one Saturday per month, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses tied to client retention and new client engagement

Requirements

- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution
- Active Bar License in Good Standing from any US jurisdiction
- Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing immigration law
- Proven track record of managing complex immigration cases successfully
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and a proactive approach to client service
- Fluency in Spanish; additional language skills are a plus

Salary Description
$120,000 - $130,000 base compensation per year
