About this role
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas, is a small Catholic school committed to nurturing the whole child in a caring, faith-centered community. We are seeking a dependable, energetic After-Care Worker to join our team. This is a part-time position.
The After-Care Worker supervises and supports students of various ages during our after-school program, providing homework help, academic intervention, and structured play in a safe, positive environment.
Ministerial Character:
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. When this is a full-time position, the employee is eligible for medical insurance and other benefits offered by the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
Responsibilities:

- As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Supervise students and maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment
- Assist students with homework and reinforce classroom learning
- Provide small-group or one-on-one academic support and intervention as directed by teachers
- Lead and supervise structured play, games, and enrichment activities
- Communicate with teachers, staff, and parents about student needs and progress
- Model kindness, respect, and Christian values in all interactions
- Performs other duties as assigned
Mental/Physical Demands:
- Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and balancing
- Ability to left 10 pounds or more
- Ability to maintain composure under duress
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college or experience in education preferred)
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or tutoring setting
- Patience, strong communication skills, and a genuine enjoyment of working with children
- Ability to work with a range of ages and adapt to different learning needs
- Willingness to support the mission of a Catholic school
- Must be 21 years of age or older
Additional Requirements:
- Must successfully complete criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening
- Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
- Must adhere to all diocesan policies and procedures
