# Job Description Summary
GE Aerospace’s Batesville Composites Operations in Batesville, Mississippi, is a 330,000 square-foot manufacturing facility with approximately 315 employees. GE Aerospace is the world's largest provider of jet engines. At Batesville Composites Operations we manufacture Polymer Matrix Composites, which are a lightweight alternative to conventional manufactured metals. We are also the second GE shop in the world to manufacture Ceramic Matrix Composites, which are some of the most advanced composites technology in existence, providing both weight and thermal advantages for an engines core. Not only do we manufacture parts from raw materials but also procure over 2000 piece parts and components to perform jet engine assembly on the fan stator module, which makes up 50% of a commercial jet engine.
The Materials Planner will support the Composites Value Stream at the Batesville, MS site by coordinating the flow of raw materials, components, and production requirements to ensure alignment with manufacturing schedules and customer delivery commitments. This role is responsible for planning and scheduling material needs, maintaining system accuracy, and partnering across supply chain, operations, sourcing, and quality to support reliable execution in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The position plays a key role in driving inventory optimization, schedule attainment, and continuous improvement across the value stream.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials from suppliers and within internal operations to support the Composites Value Stream production plan.
- Develop, maintain, and update production schedules, material plans, and purchasing requirements to ensure on-time availability of materials and uninterrupted manufacturing flow.
- Partner closely with operations, sourcing, quality, logistics, and manufacturing teams to resolve material shortages, schedule changes, and execution issues that may impact delivery or production performance.
- Manage master planning activities, material systems, and ERP transactions to maintain accurate demand, supply, inventory, and production data.
- Monitor and support key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, schedule attainment, inventory health, material availability, and past due orders.
- Drive inventory optimization while balancing production continuity, lead times, and customer requirements.
- Identify and support process improvement opportunities across planning, material flow, and value stream execution to improve responsiveness, reduce waste, and enhance operational performance.
- Apply a working knowledge of planning processes, materials management, and manufacturing operations to support daily execution and solve routine planning issues.
- Use judgment within established procedures to adjust priorities and sequencing based on changing production needs, material constraints, and business conditions.
- Communicate planning priorities, risks, and recovery actions clearly to stakeholders and escalate issues as needed to support business objectives.
- Support a team environment through effective collaboration, strong interpersonal skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years manufacturing/materials/supply chain experience)
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, materials planning, or production control.
- Experience supporting an aerospace, composites, or other highly regulated production environment.
- Familiarity with Lean principles, continuous improvement, and value stream operations.
