EHS Technician

# Job Description

The EHS Technician is responsible for coordinating and executing daily Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities, including inspections, and compliance monitoring at the Cayey campus. Performs all assigned tasks in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

- Assist the EHS team to ensure Cayey campus complies with all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, corporate policies, and standards.
- Conduct routine safety, environmental, and compliance inspections to verify adherence to regulatory requirements and company EHS procedures, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash and safety shower stations, pest control programs, storm water program, flammable storage cabinets, biosafety cabinets, hazardous, biohazardous, and universal waste accumulation areas.
- Support the development, maintenance, and delivery of EHS training programs, awareness campaigns, and compliance-related communications for employees and contractors.
- Track inventory and monitor the condition of spill kits, fire blankets, emergency response equipment, and other EHS-related supplies throughout the sites.
- Maintain an organized, labeled, and appropriate level of cleaning of hazardous, flammable, and biohazardous storage areas.
- Handle, segregate, package, label, and coordinate the disposal or recycling of universal waste, biohazardous waste, hazardous waste, and recyclable materials in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation, submission, and tracking of environmental, health, and safety regulatory reports, permits, and compliance documentation such as but not limited to manifest, JHA, SDS required by local, state, federal agencies, and corporate programs.
- Assist the EHS department in the preparation, review, processing, and implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Change Management (CM) activities, and EHS-related process improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area while consistently following site safety rules, procedures, and good housekeeping practices.
- Comply with the day-to-day paperwork or documentation requirements as part of the assigned jobs or area Standard Operating Procedure or Work Instruction.

Education and Experience

- Requires an associate degree as a minimum and at least two (2) years of experience in a regulated industry, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
- Must have experience handling hazardous and biohazardous materials and supporting safety-related programs or activities.
- OSHA certification and/or other relevant environmental, health, and safety certifications are preferred.
