About the Role:
The Medical Assistant Lead supports both clinical operations and team development within the practice. In addition to performing routine clinical and administrative duties, this role helps train, guide, and support the Medical Assistant team to ensure quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflows. Serving as the primary point of contact for MA staff, the Lead assists with daily coordination and issue resolution. This position may occasionally support recruitment efforts by coordinating candidate interviews and providing feedback in collaboration with the practice leader and recruiter.
What Youll Do:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Room patients and collect vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
- Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and in-office treatments.
- Administer injections and perform point-of-care testing as ordered.
- Scribe during patient visits and prepare documentation for provider review in the EMR.
- Verify and prepare patient charts, ensuring labs, imaging, pathology, and referral reports are complete.
- Sterilize instruments, operate the autoclave, and maintain clean, well-stocked exam rooms and clinical supplies.
- Triage patient clinical calls and respond to EMR tasks, pharmacy coordination, and patient communications.
- Manage medication samples and inventory in compliance with clinical protocols.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and safety procedures. Greet and check in patients; ensure timely patient flow.
Clerical Responsibilities
- Manage multiple phone lines and scheduling systems.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments.
- Check-in and Check-out
- Contribute to team efforts by performing additional tasks, as requested.
Team Support & Coordination :
- Serve as a resource for Medical Assistants regarding clinical protocols, workflows, and day-to-day questions.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new Medical Assistants.
- Help coordinate patient flow and room assignments to support efficiency.
- Support communication between the MA team and clinic leadership.
- Escalate workflow or staffing concerns to the Practice Leader as needed.
Additional Support:
- Participate in team meetings to communicate updates and reinforce clinical consistency.
- Contribute insights to help improve back-office workflows and patient care processes.
- Occasionally assist with candidate interviews or shadowing coordination when requested.
As with any dynamic clinical setting, responsibilities may evolve to meet the changing needs of the clinic and support overall team success.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 3-5 years of Medical Assistant or clinical experience preferred.
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
- Proven staff mentorship/training ability.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
- Proficient in EMR systems and general office technology.

Work Environment & Physical Expectations:
- On-site, clinical office setting.
- Monday–Friday, daytime schedule; occasional after-hours meetings may be required.
- Ability to move throughout the office as needed, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and light lifting. Must possess manual dexterity for handling equipment and the ability to push, pull, and carry items as required.
- Maintain professional appearance and safe, clean workspace.
