About this role

General Description

The purpose of this job within the organization is to serve as a Public Art Coordinator for the City of Charleston- Office of Public Art by performing a broad range of professional and technical work in the planning, reviewing and managing the identification, installation and maintenance of public art projects within the City.

This job will work under the Director Of Public Art and will implement projects and policies set out by the leadership of the administration and Office of Public Art.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this job/class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Essential Functions:

Fulfills the department's mission to educate.create.conserve Public Art in Charleston.

Strives to be efficient and effective at balancing and meeting the common needs and reasonable expectations of core constituents.

Implement projects and procedures for the installation, maintenance, operation and identification of public art in Charleston.

Develops and implements inventory plans and maintenance programs for the City of Charleston's Office of Public Art.

Manages the public art database and condition studies

Identifies fundraising opportunities and grant opportunities.

Additional Duties :

Performs related work as assigned.

Reads financial reports; speaks before professional and civic groups; participates in panel discussions and speaks extemporaneously on a variety of subjects; writes complex articles, reports and develops presentations for audiences.

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Equipment Usage:

Equipment usage involves responsibility for materials, machines, tools, equipment, work aids, and products.

Handles or uses work aids involving some latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Arts Administration or related field.

Requires four years of demonstrated experience

Special Certifications and Licenses:

Must possess and maintain valid State of West Virginia Driver's License.

- Ability to understand and comply with City and departmental guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations.
