Summary:
The Clinical Exercise Physiologist provides exercise and fitness screening, testing, and counseling and develops and implements exercise prescriptions for patients with chronic diseases. This role demonstrates skill in assessing patient response to exercise, modifies exercise plans to meet individual needs, and generates clinical documentation that meets all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Evaluates patient progress in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Medical Fitness programs. Recommends appropriate modifications to exercise prescriptions. Reassesses and documents 30-day patient progress and medical fitness reports in compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) time requirements.Conducts and evaluates clinical stress tests, performing continuous patient assessment through electrocardiogram monitoring and observation of physiological responses, including symptoms, appearance, heart rate, and blood pressure.Develops and documents discharge treatment plan with patient (and his/her family), physician and rehab staff.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.Delivers high-quality patient care by assessing goals and needs through intake evaluations and test result interpretation, developing safe and effective exercise prescriptions, and creating and documenting individualized treatment plans in accordance with physician orders, medical history, patient limitations, and goals.Delivers inpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services by assessing patient eligibility, providing education, and developing and implementing individualized exercise prescriptions as appropriate. Facilitates referrals for enrollment in outpatient cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation and medical fitness programs.Supports patients in executing individualized treatment plans and exercise prescriptions by instructing, motivating, and assisting them with prescribed physical activities.Provides inpatient exercise physiology services in collaboration with physicians and clinical staff.

Other Information: Additional Education Info: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or a related field.ACSM-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist by ACSM) required.
