Facilities & Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary

IFS Industries is seeking an experienced Facilities & Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our manufacturing facility and production equipment.

This position is responsible for facility and equipment reliability, preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting, process improvements, and capital projects. The role will work closely with Production, Quality, and Safety to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, support manufacturing needs, and maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on industrial experience with pumps, motors, piping, tanks, mixers, controls, and equipment troubleshooting, along with the ability to manage projects from identification and planning through installation and completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facilities & Maintenance

- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and reliability of production equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs.
- Identify recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other equipment-related issues.
- Provide hands-on technical support for pumps, motors, piping, tanks, mixers, controls, and other industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Coordinate planned maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production.
- Support maintenance work-order planning, spare-parts management, and equipment documentation.
- Work with outside contractors and service providers as needed.

Engineering & Process Improvement

- Evaluate manufacturing equipment and processes to identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Design or recommend equipment modifications and process improvements.
- Perform root-cause analysis on equipment failures and recurring production issues.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and qualification.
- Develop technical specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and equipment requirements.
- Partner with Production and Quality to ensure equipment and processes meet operational requirements.

Capital Projects

- Plan and execute facility improvements, equipment installations, replacements, and other capital projects.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and contractor proposals.
- Coordinate contractors, engineers, equipment manufacturers, and internal departments.
- Monitor project costs and schedules and ensure projects are completed safely and according to specifications.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure maintenance activities comply with company safety requirements and applicable OSHA and local regulations.
- Partner with Safety to identify and correct facility and equipment-related safety concerns.
- Ensure contractors follow company safety procedures while working onsite.
- Support inspections, audits, corrective actions, and equipment safety improvements.
- Promote safe work practices, including proper lockout/tagout and machine-safety procedures.

Leadership & Coordination

- Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance personnel.
- Help prioritize maintenance activities based on safety, production, and operational needs.
- Coordinate with Production leadership regarding equipment availability, repairs, shutdowns, and improvement projects.
- Assist with training and development of maintenance employees on equipment and troubleshooting practices.
- Promote accountability, preventive maintenance, good housekeeping, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of maintenance, facilities, engineering, or equipment-reliability experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Hands-on industrial experience with pumps, motors, piping, tanks, mixers, controls, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
- Experience with preventive maintenance and equipment reliability programs.
- Experience managing equipment installations, facility improvements, or capital projects.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Strong organizational, communication, project-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Production, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, vendors, and contractors.

Preferred

- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)and work orders.
- Experience in chemical, adhesive, polymer, coatings, or other process-manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, electrical controls, and industrial automation.
- Experience with root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and industrial safety practices.
- Experience with facility utilities and systems such as compressed air, HVAC, electrical distribution, and process-support equipment.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment and comply with required PPE and safety procedures.
- Ability to walk throughout production and facility areas, climb stairs and ladders, and access equipment for inspections and troubleshooting.
- Ability to respond to urgent equipment or facility issues when necessary.
- Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required for shutdowns, installations, repairs, or other operational needs.
