Overview:

CBS Mornings brings viewers original reporting, breaking news, newsmaker interviews and compelling storytelling each weekday. The broadcast is seeking a Senior Editor to supervise a team of writers and play an integral role on the editorial team. Working at the center of the editorial process, the Senior Editor will help shape clear, accurate and engaging copy for the live broadcast while collaborating closely with editorial and production partners.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Supervise and provide editorial guidance to a team of writers

- Edit writers’ copy, originate scripts as needed and write teases for CBS Mornings’ on-air talent under tight deadlines

- Fact-check copy for accuracy and ensure it aligns with CBS News editorial standards and style

- Ensure all copy is formatted correctly for the broadcast and works effectively with video, graphics and other production elements

- Collaborate closely with the executive producer, line producer, producers and technical teams

- Contribute timely and creative ideas for daily and future broadcasts, including guest segments

- This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and is represented by 315 - WGA Staff Radio and TV

Basic Qualifications:

- 7+ years of writing and copy-editing experience in television news

- Exemplary writing, copy-editing and communication skills

- Experience supervising or providing editorial direction to writers

- Experience with ENPS or a comparable newsroom computer system

- This is a fully in-person position based in the control room

- The schedule requires overnight and early-morning hours, Monday through Friday, leading into the live broadcast

Additional Qualifications:

- Sound editorial judgment and close attention to detail

- Ability to work accurately and effectively under tight deadlines

- Familiarity with video feeds, video sources and breaking-news coverage

- Ability to respond to breaking news in the control room as required

- Knowledge of U.S., international and business news, with an interest in sports and popular culture

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $67.31 - 76.92.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
