Role Overview

This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which means that limitations relating to nationality may apply.

Introduction

The Material Handler Lead provides day-to-day leadership and direction to Material Handlers within the Stockroom. The Lead coordinates daily work activities, establishes priorities, supports training and development, monitors performance, and helps ensure material handling activities are completed safely, accurately, and on time.

As a working Lead, this position actively participates in material handling activities while serving as the primary day-to-day resource for the team. The Lead provides coaching and performance feedback and participates with the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor in performance reviews and corrective action processes. The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor retains overall responsibility for managing the department and final responsibility for formal performance and disciplinary actions.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate daily Material Handler activities and work priorities.

- Assign work and adjust resources to meet production and shipping needs.

- Provide day-to-day coaching, feedback, training, and direction to team members.

- Participate in performance reviews and corrective action processes with the Supervisor.

- Support onboarding, cross-training, and employee development.

- Ensure accurate and timely receiving, kitting, material movement, inventory, and shipping activities.

- Monitor inventory accuracy and help resolve material and shipping discrepancies.

- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, and other internal teams.

- Reinforce safety, quality, traceability, standard work, and 5S expectations.

- Communicate workflow, staffing, and performance concerns to the Supervisor.

- Support continuous improvement of material flow and Stockroom processes.

- Perform Material Handler duties as needed.

- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Core Requirements

- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.

- Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate daily work.

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

- Working knowledge of inventory, receiving, kitting, and shipping processes.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.

- Ability to train, develop, and provide feedback to team members.

- Proficient computer skills, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office.

- Demonstrated teamwork, reliability, accountability, and initiative.

- This position requires standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 50 pounds during the workday. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Desireable Skills and Experience

- High School diploma or GED preferred.

- Three to five years of related material handling, inventory, receiving, shipping, or manufacturing experience.

- Demonstrated knowledge of stockroom and material flow processes.

- Previous lead, training, or leadership experience preferred.

- Experience using ERP systems for inventory and material transactions.

- Ability to operate required material handling equipment.
