Internship, Insurance Accounting (Winter/Spring 2027)

This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e., through April) or into early Summer 2027 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before applying.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. Again, please do not apply until you know you can work 40 hours per week. This is required for external applicants. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

Join Tesla’s Accounting team as an intern and apply your knowledge as you work on process creation, development, and execution. You will primarily support Insurance Accounting, with additional exposure to energy accounting. You will also support accurate, on-time close processes and financial reporting in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, while building practical accounting, analysis, and systems skills.

- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles through organized work, follow-through, and issue escalation
- Help document and test internal controls that support reliable financial reporting
- Assist with accounting analyses, including multi-entity activity, GAAP to STAT adjustments, and work with large data sets
- Reconcile and validate data across financial systems with guidance from the team
- Contribute to process and system improvement projects; share clear, actionable feedback with IT and stakeholders
- Explore opportunities to use AI and automation tools on manual, repetitive tasks within a control environment
- Collaborate cross-functionally on projects and process improvements

- Currently pursuing a Degree in Accounting or Finance, or Business Administration, or a related field
- Strong Excel skills; advanced Excel (e.g., lookups, pivot tables, Power Query) and information systems experience is a plus
- Interest in data validation, analysis, and automating manual work; SQL exposure is a plus
- Detail-oriented, adaptable, analytical, and a clear communicator
- Curiosity about accounting, close processes, systems, operations, financial reporting, forecasting, and flux analysis
