Required Qualifications:
- Some college coursework in accounting, business, finance, or a related field
- Must have experience with accounts payable, billing, payroll, accounting, financial records,
- Must have experience with Medicaid, public benefits, Social Security/SSI, representative payee services, or client financial accounts
- Must have an understanding of GAAP.
- Must have Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and follow-up activities
- including invoice entry, payment processing, check preparation, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)/Automatic Clearing House (ACH) posting, and maintenance of supporting records.
- Must have knowledge of bi-weekly payroll, banking activities, general accounting functions, reporting, and financial recordkeeping.
Job Summary:
The Accounting and Benefits Support Specialist provides accurate, timely, and organized support for the organizations accounting, client financial, benefits, and administrative functions. Responsibilities include accounts payable, payroll support, Personal Needs Funds, representative payee activities, benefits and Medicaid eligibility monitoring, recordkeeping, and general administrative support.
The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to identify and escalate potential financial, benefits, documentation, or compliance concerns.

Pay Range : 25.00 – 28.00 paid bi-weekly based off experience and education.
Shift : 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (in office at first with potential to work remote on occasions)
Additional Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain accurate Personal Needs Funds documentation, including receipt collection, matching, follow-up, and audit-ready records.
- Support Social Security Administration representative payee activities and required documentation.
- Monitor Medicaid, Social Security, SSI, and other benefit eligibility requirements, renewal dates, applications, and documentation; conduct appropriate follow-up to prevent interruptions in benefits.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, unusual activity, approaching deadlines, or other potential concerns and appropriately communicate or escalate them.
- Process, organize, maintain, and route financial, benefits, and administrative information and records.
- Provide general administrative support, including phones, visitors, scheduling, shared calendars, supplies, work orders, reservations, and other operational needs.
- Prepare reports and maintain or document procedures and records as assigned.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with Finance, program staff and leadership, vendors, providers, guardians, benefits contacts, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow organizational policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Understanding of GAAP.
- Familiarity with accounting software; NetSuite preferred.
- Microsoft 365/Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Experience with Medicaid, benefits administration, or public benefits preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and follow-up activities.
- Ability to identify problems, exercise sound judgment, and appropriately escalate concerns.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively across departments.
- Proficiency with 10-key data entry.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication and follow-through
Education and Experience
- Some college coursework in accounting, business, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with a normal range of physical strength, mobility, hearing, and vision.
- Frequently sits and works at a computer; may stand, bend, and move intermittently throughout the workday.

Other Requirements
- Valid Colorado drivers license required.
- Must complete required organizational training and meet applicable background and regulatory requirements.
