About this Role

Dow has exciting job opportunities for Process Technicians at one of our world-scale production units, supporting PDH-1 in Oyster Creek, Texas.

Responsibilities

- Follows Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
- Uses process knowledge and skills to create, modify and improve operating discipline procedures and practices to improve plant performance.
- Operates and field checks process equipment.
- Monitors process conditions, equipment, and control systems.
- Performs tasks assigned to operations per Master Task List (e.g. field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.).
- Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
- Uses process knowledge and skills to coach and train others on plant operations.
- Actively participates on plant teams, and in other plant improvement projects.
- Performs process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventive maintenance utilizing the appropriate work processes and disciplines.
- With the appropriate knowledge, skills and qualifications, candidates will be expected to perform any task that is needed to support the operation or maintenance of a chemical plant.

Required Qualifications

- A minimum of an Associate Degree in a relevant field OR a High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of military experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Must be able to work a rotating shift.  Which is 12-hour shift days and nights.
- Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

- An Associate Degree in Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation and/or Electrical, or Computer Technology is preferred.
- Chemical manufacturing experience as a Production Technician.
- Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting, maintenance, diagnosing and repairing experience.
- Prior experience working in an outside environment.
- Proficiency in reading trends and graphs of real-time data.
- Understanding of computer code.

Physical Requirements

- Must be willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator.
- Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Frequent/occasional lifting of material weighing approximately 50 lbs.
- Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
- Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
- Stand 50% of the time.
- Walk for extended periods of time.
- Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
- Work in an area with hazardous materials.
- Work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.  (This typically accommodates individuals who weigh 285 or less).

Skills

- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and quickly learns new systems, software, and technologies. Possesses strong computer and technical skills required to operate both manual and highly automated equipment.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Capable of learning and performing preventive maintenance activities and making preliminary diagnoses of equipment issues involving pumps, motors, valves, and other mechanical systems.
- Technical Problem Solving: Able to learn complex chemical manufacturing processes and apply analytical thinking to understand, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and operational issues.
- Continuous Learning: Exhibits a high level of initiative, self-motivation, and adaptability, with a strong desire to continuously develop technical skills and stay current with emerging automation and process technologies.
- Accountability: Demonstrates personal accountability and leadership in maintaining a safe work environment by complying with health, safety, and environmental standards, while holding others accountable for the same expectations.
- Time Management: Effectively organizes, prioritizes, and accomplishes multiple tasks while managing competing priorities, demonstrating strong multitasking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
