About this role
AMP Sports is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial Vice President of Activation Revenue to lead the growth, development, and execution of high-impact partnerships at the intersection of sports, media, talent, and culture. This executive will set the partnership and activation strategy, lead and develop the team, personally drive the organization’s most important brand, agency, league, team, talent, and rights-holder relationships, and turn AMP Sports’ podcasts, digital video, social reach, creators, original storytelling, live experiences, and Sinclair scale into distinctive programs for partners and fans. The VP will be both a builder and an operator: someone who can create the commercial vision, sell the idea, and ensure the activation delivers from concept through measurement.
What You’ll Do
- Own AMP Sports’ sports-partnership and activation strategy, annual revenue plan, sales targets, pipeline health, forecasting, and performance accountability.
- Build a differentiated portfolio of integrated programs across podcasts and audio, digital video, social, talent and creator partnerships, branded content, sponsorships, live events, fan experiences, and other experiential opportunities.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing partnerships and activations team; establish clear expectations, account priorities, operating rhythms, and a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability.
- Serve as executive sponsor and hands-on seller for the largest opportunities, building trusted relationships with senior brand marketers, agency executives, leagues, teams, talent representatives, rights holders, and other sports-industry partners.
- Create activation platforms around tentpole events, sports seasons, original franchises, talent, cultural moments, and audience passions that can scale across brands and distribution channels.
- Lead the full activation lifecycle—from insight, concept, packaging, and pitch through contracting, production, launch, on-site or digital execution, measurement, renewal, and expansion.
- Partner with content, production, marketing, social, research, ad operations, experiential, finance, legal, and corporate sales teams to ensure programs are creative, executable, brand-safe, rights-compliant, and financially sound.
- Guide packaging, pricing, sponsorship architecture, inventory strategy, activation budgets, and commercial policies to support revenue growth, market competitiveness, and healthy margins.
- Lead executive-level proposal development and negotiations for complex, high-value agreements, balancing client objectives, fan experience, creative ambition, talent and usage rights, operational requirements, risk, and profitability.
- Establish clear activation governance, ownership, timelines, approval processes, and cross-functional handoffs to deliver every partner commitment at a high standard.
- Create a measurement approach that connects audience reach and engagement with brand objectives, activation performance, client satisfaction, renewal, and account growth.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities involving events, hospitality, commerce, licensing, creators, talent, distribution, and emerging sports or fan-engagement platforms.
- Represent AMP Sports at client meetings, agency summits, sports and advertising conferences, live events, and other major marketplace moments.
What You’ll Bring
- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in sports partnerships, sponsorships, experiential marketing, branded content, sports media, integrated sales, or a related field.
- 5+ years leading and developing sales, partnerships, sponsorship, experiential, or activation teams, with a record of setting strategy and improving performance.
- A sustained track record of meeting or exceeding significant revenue goals and personally closing complex, high-value, multi-platform sports partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience taking major activations from concept through execution, including management of stakeholders, budgets, timelines, talent or rights considerations, and measurement.
- Deep relationships and executive credibility with major brands, agencies, leagues, teams, rights holders, talent organizations, and relevant sports-industry partners.
- Strong understanding of sports audiences, fandom, live and digital experiences, branded entertainment, podcast and creator monetization, social platforms, and integrated measurement.
- Executive-level commercial and operational judgment, including fluency in pricing, forecasting, activation budgets, deal structure, margins, and revenue operations.
- Ability to connect business strategy, consumer insight, creative storytelling, live experiences, and platform capabilities into an actionable partnership plan.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or scaling a sports-partnership or activation function, launching a new commercial offering, or repositioning a sports media portfolio in the market.
- Experience working directly with sports talent, creators, leagues, teams, venues, rights holders, live events, or original sports programming.
- Experience with seven-figure-plus partnerships, multi-year agreements, custom content production, live activations, hospitality, and complex rights or usage structures.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; advanced degree is a plus.
How Success Will Be Measured
- Achievement of annual revenue, profitability, pipeline coverage, and forecast-accuracy goals.
- Growth and diversification of AMP Sports’ brand, agency, league, team, talent, and rights-holder relationships.
- Development of distinctive, scalable sports partnerships and activation platforms.
- On-time, on-budget, brand-safe delivery of activation commitments and strong fan engagement.
- Performance, engagement, and development of the partnerships and activations team.
- Partner retention, renewal, expansion, and executive-level satisfaction.
- Effective collaboration across AMP Sports and Sinclair from concept through execution and measurement.
