Senior Cloud Network Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in designing and implementing Public Cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code, combined with strong leadership capabilities to influence strategy, drive collaboration, and deliver scalable and secure cloud network solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that designs and builds cloud networks and infrastructure for the firm.

The successful candidate will be involved in multiple aspects of Cloud network engineering, including design and architecture of cloud platform, writing blueprints and Terraform code for Cloud Services, developing and contributing to self-service tooling and integrating CSP services with on-premises systems. They will be expected to have strong technical leadership skills in addition to firsthand keyboard experience with one or more public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google) in an engineering and/or developer capacity.

The individual should be comfortable working across organizational boundaries, influencing architectural and engineering decisions, communicating technical concepts and tradeoffs to a range of audiences, and mentoring other engineers.

What you will do in the role:

- Architect, design and implement Cloud Network Infrastructure at enterprise scale
- Develop Terraform modules using Terraform Enterprise, Terraform Cloud
- Integrate Cloud core services with Morgan Stanley on-premises systems
- Test infrastructure as code using common testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Terraform Test)
- Lead cloud network automation and deployment through integration with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Design and support Kubernetes based private cloud networks, including the configuration of ingress, egress, and routing topologies.
- Write technical documentation.
- Troubleshooting and debugging.
- Influence organizational cloud adoption strategy through thought leadership and collaboration with senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other technical teams at Morgan Stanley to deliver product and solution level support.
- Lead and drive Cloud Networking strategy, architecture and design decisions.
- Collaborate with broader Cloud team to execute on firm’s cloud strategy
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering reviews, incident response, and root cause analysis.

What you will bring to the role:

- 8 + years’ experience working in engineering, architect, or developer role.
- 5 + years of experience with Cloud PaaS and/or IaaS (Google, Azure, AWS)
- Python, Terraform experience with infrastructure as code and configuration tools.
- Practitioner-level network automation skills using DevOps and CI/CD pipeline practices.
- Ability to work across multi-discipline teams on architecture, features, and problem solving.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively and write detailed technical documentation.

Desired Skills:

- Terraform, Ansible, GIT, Shell Scripting or Python, CloudFormation, Azure RM
- Understanding of client/server, networking, and Internet technologies
- Experience with Kubernetes/Openshift; Knowledge of Calico & Cilium CNI’s is a plus
- Linux and networking skills
- Experience with agile framework and devops
- Familiarity with landing Zone frameworks
- Knowledge, awareness, and contributor to open-source projects
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer, GCP Professional Cloud Network Engineer).

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $155,000 and $215,000 per year at the commencement of employment.  However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
