About the Role
The Commodity Manager leads complex, high impact categories and shapes enterprise-level sourcing strategy. This role is accountable for long-term value creation, risk management and supplier ecosystem leadership while influencing senior stakeholders and mentoring category talent.
Accountable For
Strategic leadership, innovation, advanced sourcing and negotiations, supplier ecosystem, and risk management, organizational impact and decision-making
Responsibilities
- Orchestrate multi-year category strategies tied to business growth, profitability, and resilience goals
- Lead enterprise sourcing initiatives across complex spend areas
- Influence make vs. buy, footprint, and supplier portfolio decisions
- Lead complex negotiations with executive-level supplier counterparts
- Structure long-term agreements, partnerships, and innovation frameworks
- Drive total cost of ownership and value-based sourcing decisions
- Shape the strategic supplier landscape
- Lead risk identification and mitigation for supply, cost, and geopolitical exposure
- Sponsor supplier innovation, continuity and capacity investments
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional partners
- Mentor and coach Category Managers and Buyer/Planners
- Lead or sponsor procurement transformation initiatives, tools, and processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven track record leading large, complex categories and negotiations
- Strong financial acumen and executive communication skills
- Contract management experience
- Ability to inform technical drawings
- High ethical standards
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, negotiating and interpersonal skills
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain , business, engineering or related field required
- MBA or equivalent advanced certification preferred
- 8+ years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain, or engineering required
Travel
- Overnight/North America: 10-25%
Working Conditions
- Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. R equired to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to e xert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
